This is the second year (after a long absence) that the AMApro flat track series has come to the dirt track at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Red clay makes for good racing, particularly when the track crew knows what it is doing.

While not an over-large crowd, it's much better than last year. This event should grow, nicely. It will be back next year. Yes; that man has a picture of Floyd-the-barber on his t-shirt. It's North Carolina, after all.

Johnny Lewis just missed the direct-transfer from his heat race (finishing fifth where the top four transfer), he won his semi-final race so would be starting from the back row of the final.

My camera is capable of stopping this action, but that requires more effort on my part. This looks faster...

...welcome to go with us to the Springfield Mile...
If you can only see one race, Springfield is the one. Every team especially wants to do well, here. For a spectator, the view from the stands is as good as any (get up at least mid-level). Parking is free, the food is not crazy-priced, and Springfield does better than most at allowing spectators into the paddock before and after the races. You might want to remember ear plugs.
More than most, Springfield is a strategic race. That's why it's rare for an eager young gun to do well--they just don't yet have the experience. Holding off often works better than going crazy. But, for all that, the top riders will be fearless those last five laps.

The mile has become the event I look foreword to every year, like Christmas when I was a kid. Having Doug, Darren, and John to the house for dinner, the ride, the race and the atmosphere is great!
Oh, and the cold Stag beer!
Oh, John L, we won't be running thorough St. Louis this year. Mexico, mo here we come!!! Sorry
