Title: Veloce!
Post by: Lcarlson on July 31, 2016, 10:05:58 PM

Since buying my Cali 14 about a year ago, I've mostly used the "Turismo" engine mode, and considered the variable engine mapping to be sort of superfluous. I still doubt I'll ever really use the "Piaggio" mode even in the rain -- it's really feeble, and the traction control would seem to accomplish the same thing. Lately, however, I've taken to selecting "Veloce" as my default engine mode, and I really like it. I know it doesn't really add any power, but it sure feels like it does -- an illusion, but one that makes this terrific motorcycle even more fun to ride. All in all, in Veloce, the bike just feels stronger, more lively, and responsive than in the perfectly comfortable Turismo mode. Veloce is where I plan to leave it most of the time now, and it's given me a new appreciation of the choice in engine response these remarkable engines have to offer.

Turismo didn't last long with me once I tried Veloce.  Never went back!  Not sure why you would purposely reduce the performance of your bike- as you said the traction control does pretty well for handling road conditions.

I haven't tried it since my Cali Custom's ECU was remapped a year ago.  The 2014 Veloce ECU mapping kinda sucked.  Guess it's time to try it again.

Biggest thing I noticed is more engine braking. Don't really see huge changes in other areas.  I use both, depending on the situation.
