The custodial crew would have never-ending jobs.

People could be born and raised and live their whole life without ever going out of doors.
You could road race motorcycles inside that building and still have room for the spectators
A trip to the other end of the building might require planning and food supplies.
And I have to wonder since it is in China, Do the people in one end speak the same language as the people in the other?
-
Mandarin is the official language.

Yep , and if history tells us anything , in 30 years that will be its only function , how many mega malls have failed miserably ?

Better wait and see if the building itself isn't the disaster.
Chinese construction has a terrible reputation for shoddiness. Everyone seems to be "on the take", especially including safety inspectors. Concrete is watered down, they skimp on rebar, they go cheap on everything they can get by with.
The solution - when an apartment building falls down and kills 100 people, you take the manager and staff of the construction company, along with the local building inspector, out back and shoot them. Literally, with real bullets. Not sure it fixes anything, but that's the method.
Maybe they did this "showpiece" better.

There are some claims that the Tesla Gigafactory in northern Nevada is going to be the world's largest structure once completed. Records like these get broken every few years; going back to the 60s, the assembly building at Kennedy was the largest (in the Saturn/Apollo days)!

Y'ep, Mao wanted a standard official language like other countries so did Chiang Kai Shek. Like other countries standard Italian, German and American English.
