A race bike listed with no description. Something tells me the seller is not very motivated.
Interesting contraption bolted to the sump.

Must be an endurance racer judging by the seat

Some tracks here require you have a catch tray under the engine for oil and coolant. A bike dropping its Guts just before a corner is not good for the next few behind :bike-037:

yeah, but what if the oil doesn't come from the bottom of the oil pan? That catch pan is worthless if you throw a rod or have a oil line come loose.

Sticker on the tank tells you why it's for sale.

I'd love to try that bike out on the track!
The vintage club that I raced with for many years now require catch pans or something built into the lower fairing to catch oil. Largely it came from things like blown shift seals (common on old 350 Hondas) and spin on oil filters, or oil cooler lines. It doesn't take much to oil down a track. A friend blew a seal on his racer (in the wet) and spent 4 laps trying to avoid the line of oil that some idiot (himself) was laying down on the track! It does happen with older bikes, and once a group or particular class (vintage in this case) has delayed the days racing one too many times, or a rider has gone down on oil and been hurt, you get these changes to the rules. It's not a perfect solution, but it's not a bad idea with old fussy bikes.

Not necessarily Jim. For the race bike we put a handle on the Guzzi starter with studs in the mount holes for alignment, add a push button to the handle and wire it up. Just stick the starter in there and VROOM!!

From the seller:
The bike was built from the ground up to compete in AHRMA'S vintage superbike class. Its based on a 1976 T3. The engine is 890cc has a Dr.John's crank with carrillo rods & Hi comp. Pistons. Big valve heads that are dual plugged. The bike was built by the late Ed LaCruze & has been raced twice since built. Has not been run since 2008

Not too long ago I went into a turn a little too hot and wished I'd had a catch tray mounted under my seat...

Anyone know how this turned out? Forgot to watch list it...

My bad... Listing is still active. Anyone make an offer that was refused?
