Title: Garmin Zumo 340/345/390/395 car mount
Post by: pikipiki on August 17, 2016, 01:48:00 PM
I'm looking for a cheep car mount for a Garmin Zumo. the bike mount is not easy to detach from bike. I dont need a charger as the battery lasts for 7 hours
just something to hold it on the dash. most mobile phone mounts wont work because the zumo is very thick and needs held top and bottom.

any ideas?

Will a Zumo 550 cradle work?

Oh well. My old 550 came with a car mount that I've used maybe twice, and will likely never use again.

I have a 350LM which is mostly used on my 98EV with the built-in charging cradle.  However, I often move the device with a saddle clamp to my Falcone or to borrowed/rented bikes.  The RAM ball mount systems are the best, but they won't adapt to the different ball mounting size of the Garmin cradle.  That is, unless you have a lathe and a mill or drill press.  I bored out the center of the Garmin cradle and built an aluminum slug to handle the mounting of a 1" Ram Ball.  See here:

I just completed a 12 day tour of Normandy and Brittany with this clamped to Falcone Sport handlebars and never had the slightest worry about dropping the device.
