Title: Stelvio not charging *Fixed*

Need help with a 2012 Stelvio that is not charging and hi beam lights do not light.  Aux lights have been fixed, fused and work.  30A fuse in right triandle good but after charging battery (bike died on way home) it is not charging.  Only 12+ volts when running and revving up to 3,000 rpm or so..

So where to look and solve.  Low beam lights are on and Ok.

Edit - checked hi beam 20 amp fuse and it is OK

Pop off the rubber on front cover and stick your finger in to see if belt shredded.

Check the headlight relay.  Mine had failed, and it took about both lights and charging.  Mine was both low and hi beam, so your situation might be different, but worth checking.

If you disconnected the battery you might have left the alternator wire off.

Sorry to hear this situation Mark.  I'd call Jim B. at Rose Farms and get his words of wisdom.  The headlight relay sounds like a good possibility.  As I recall, there are five relays on the right hand side of the bike mounted in a line under the fairing.  Sorry, I can't help you on what circuit each relay controls.

Anyone have any luck sourching these relays from local auto parts stores?

Chuck it is looking like a relay - I'll figure it out and thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I don't think the relay will stop it charging, its there to turn the lights on once the engine is running.

I may be wrong, I don't have experience with modern Guzzis, I'm just going by the schematic.

#3 and #6 are not your typical Bosch relays.  They are a 4 pin relay with all pins parallel.  I could only get them through Guzzi, in this case AF1.  The parts list says that there are three of these on the NTX.  I could only find two so I replaced those and have a couple spares.  Part number AP8224462.  My problem was with starting.

From the symptoms I do not think a relay is the issue. Since #3 and #6 are the same relay you could swap them and see if you are heading down the right path.   Sounds more like the alternator belt to me.....just a long distance SWAG.

And the winner is Shaun....

It was the light logic relay #5 that was the problem.  Fuses good, belt good, relay non functione.

Thanks for suggestions and at least now I know where all the fuses and relays live.
