Title: 93 Cal III wind protection
Post by: Mark Dasher on August 22, 2016, 08:34:47 AM
I'm been thinking about getting a windscreen for my recently acquired Cal III.  I think I can just use an aftermarket like National Cycle and use one of their universal fork mounts.  However, they don't show any Guzzi fitments, of course.  Any recommendations from you folks?

The best wind protection for your California is from Harpers, http://www.harpermoto.com/h-and-h-handlebar-mount-fairing.html I have the original Swanee on my V11 EV and love it.

Maybe you can blow these shots up to see the mounting set up. This was my wife's 93 Cal III with a National Cycle Plexi Faring III using a universal mounting kit. She ran it for many years with this set and it worked very well. Its still on the bike and being ridden by the gal she sold it to. I don't know what NC has on the market now but hopefully you can get some ideas form this.

I had the stock Guzzi screen on my Cal 111 for 144K. I rode with a shorty helmet and didn't get much wind. Yes, the Harpers/Swanee fairing is absolutely the best as I've had it on a number of Guzzis, but not on a Cal111.

The fellow that bought the cal knew it had a "few" miles on it, but it was only 3 years old so he wasn't worried about it.

Are you referring to the one on the 89-90 models? If so, they are made of unobtanium. And you can't have mine.

Thanks for the responses everyone!  Looks like a call to Harpers is in order...

U.S. Cycle as mentioned.  Plexi-Star II or III.  Both have universal mount kits.  The III extends down past the turn signals.  Either recommended for the price and extending your riding season.  I put a II on since I'm mostly on the dry side of the island.

Plexifairing 3 works great on my Jackal when it's chilly.  However, it always comes off in the summer.  It's just too hot.  I use this (I think it's a Givi), in the summer:

Just enough wind diversion to make highway riding comfortable, but has enough air flow for those hot summer rides.

I think he's going for the near full body coverage.
