Local news is reporting that the Hwy 96/rte 66 bridge just east of Carthage Mo will be closed indefinitely. This is a well travelled bridge on the historic route and a likely route for the upcoming Motorcycle Cannonball . There is a likely detour route for local traffic but who can guess what the official detour will be.

That stinks, I use that bridge often!

Built in 1934, pretty shortsighted to build a bridge that only lasts 80 years.

Can you confirm the location? Is this the one over the railroad just before entering Central Avenue? Any better guidance about the planned detour?
Edit: Found the local reports. That is the bridge. See here:

Funding is in place to replace the bridge next year. Its condition detriorated more rapidl than expected.
Going westbound the detour would be: right on E Vine, left on Locust/Zapletal Way and R on 66/96.

Speaking of "stinks" ..I worked in the RES plant a few times. Very smelly! Turkey guts into diesel fuel operation. By the Butterball facility there in Carthage. Never saw a Guzzi there though!
