2009 v7 classic, 4k miles.
I parked unnder a downspout last night and I believe water got into my tank. Started up fine as usual but by 1/8 mile lost one cyl then the next.
What is the best way to drain the bottom of my tank? Can I disconnect a hose and pump fuel out ?
Thanks in advance.

Pull the spark plug caps first .

Pull up rear of tank & rearwards so to disconnect from bike, disconnect fuel line & electric. 6 screws on fuel pump plate and it comes off of tank. Pour out fuel & change out filter, re-install. Plate screws are 4 ft lbs torque.

Ok, yes there was water inside. Do I need to replace these or just dry them out?

Get them really dry . We just went thru this with a friend's V7 , the collateral damage included a ruined catalytic converter .

Excellent advice, dried them and she fired right up. I owe you a beer! Thank you for your help.

There was water in the tank. Siphoned out , flushed with fresh, siphoned out filled with fresh, running like a Guzzi should.

Also found that the fuel filler rubber sealing ring is kaput, replacing that asap.

It sounds like a bad design. How do you keep water from entering the tank when you wash the bike?
