How much can an engine number tell about a bike and it's original build?
Is the VP of any significance?
Is there a good resource that breaks the numbers down by production year etc?

When they tell me to take a number I say "Ok, I'll take number 1. That means it's my turn."

The two letter prefix denotes the engine type/model. On later model bikes with the standard 17-digit VIN, the two letters are also in the VIN.
