After checking the archive postings there is no new information since 2008 on possible solutions to this old problem. Has anyone found a new fix? I called Palo Alto they said iti doesn't issue parts. Anyone have luck with buying a new speedo since "08"

just get a multi function bicycle speedo and be done.. it gives you ACTUAL speed and mileage with 1 or more trip meters..

Do a search for Speedhut on this forum. Some great and reasonably inexpensive solutions that can look better than original.

I fixed mine a couple of times. That got me through to over 100,000 miles. Last month I gave in and installed a Speedhut. No more farting around.

Was looking at the SpeedHut solution for my '98 EV.
Doesn't seem they make one that will drop in to the original mount.
Doesn't seem that any of theirs are listed as waterproof.
Get the feeling their gages are for enclosed vehicles.
Please tell me I'm wrong and offer a correct fit for my EV.

You're wrong.
Well, no, you are right.
They will apply a sealer to the bezel if you ask. All of the users I have talked to said they have never had an issue. Also, in their own email to me they said it is not an issue because it has a lifetime guarantee.
They have a size that will fit well. You will need to fabricate a bracket for the chrome cap on the back side.
You will need to fabricate a pickup.

You will need to fabricate a pickup.
Or go with a GPS model.
