Title: International Bluegrass Festival, Guthrie OK
Post by: LowRyter on September 28, 2016, 03:05:29 PM
This weekend we have all kinds of going-ons in Central Okla.

1.  Guthrie is a turn of the century frontier town that was the original State Capital.  The annual International Bluegrass Festival is this weekend.  It's a very scenic town.  Many of the old businesses and building have been restored.  Tom Mix was a bartender there.  Lots of places to eat and shop.

I'd like to do an Okie Chowdown there when we get back in the swing of it.

Anyway here's the skinny on Guthrie Bluegrass

2.  Seaba Station Motorcycle Swap Meet and Show is Saturday and Sunday

3.  Coffee and cars is this Saturday morning

4.  Finally a new beer fest:  OKCtober Fest this Saturday at the Okla City Farmer's Market.  The local brewers and food trucks will be there.

I hope to make all or at least some.

Thanks for the tip.   Looks great.   I would totally go if it were not for the GRIT rally in Lindale

If I was retired and had the time, I'd try to make all those great-looking venues!

I am pretty impressed with hipsters that came up with OKCtober Fest.  Pretty neat way to combine the two words.  The old Farmer's Market has been run down and it's the next restoration and rehab area.

I am going to the opening of the Bluegrass Fest this morning to hear the Red Dirt Rangers.

Byron is the host and puts all this together.  His Fiddle Shop is in Guthrie, Two Stop Fiddle Shop.   I picked one of his CDs.  I'm heading back tonight as he's the finale on tonight's shop.
