Title: Leaking Norge
Post by: Gliderjohn on September 30, 2016, 12:52:28 PM
My 2011 always left it's small spot. I assumed it was from a breather hose although I did bring it up at the 600 mi service. The then Wichita dealership said that was normal and not to be concerned. I recently had to have the oil sending unit replaced as it started leaking bad (about a six inch puddle under the bike). Now that I have had that done there is no spotting at all. Was the oil sender leaking from day one?

Who knows? But it would of been one of the first places I'd look. Finding oil leaks, even minor ones, shouldn't be too hard.

It seems likely. The breather is always a possibility, but on a new bike there should be a plug in the drain line (these seem to eventually go missing) and there shouldn't be very much to see. Since there seems to be no common oil level that works for every bike, it's always possible to slightly 'overfill' (for a particular bike). However, there have been many bikes, both large and small block, that have had leaks at the oil pressure sensor, the phase sensor, etc.

Definitely maybe. In fact, it's almost certainly possible.
