I'm looking forward to this new show format and it's host.

Our local Minneapolis public radio jazz station jazz88fm.com (http://jazz88fm.com) has a Saturday schedule is based around "roots programming"- bluegrass, blues, Celtic, acoustic, and similar programming.  They use to play Tent Show Radio from the Big Top Chautauqua in Ashland, WI http://tentshowradio.org/ (http://tentshowradio.org/), and Mountain Stage http://www.mountainstage.org/shows/Pages/default.aspx (http://www.mountainstage.org/shows/Pages/default.aspx) from West Virginia on Saturday afternoons, but then changed their programming a bit, not to my taste.  But then after our local NPR affiliate (and home of PHC, MPR.org) dropped American Routes http://americanroutes.wwno.org/ (http://americanroutes.wwno.org/), which they played after PHC, the smaller jazz station picked it up and now the Saturday afternoon jazz station programming is very good again.

Jazz88fm.org does stream online, and is operated by the Minneapolis Public Schools.  I've been a supporter for several years now.  They run on a shoestring budget, receive no financial support from the school system (a high school houses their studio), and part of their mission is student education.  During the school year, daytime DJ's are high school students, one hour at a time.  They've done this for over 45 years, a great service.  The depth of their jazz programming is second to none for airwave radio, both for live DJ play and syndicated shows.  Tune in and listen.

Anyway, sorry for getting off topic.  Yep, I think Chris Thiele will be bringing very good changes to PHC.  I'll be tuning in.

Steve.

Looking forward to it.  I am sure it won't be as good as the original because I liked the humor  and satire as much as the music.  Anyway, I am hoping for the best and am glad the show continues.  Chris has been guesting on the show for 20 years since he was fifteen.

In related news, Garrison will perform here in OKC this Thursday.

I'm looking forward to hopefully more acoustic music and less of garrison's monotone pontificating. Chris is a great talent and a fine picker. His stuff with nickel creek was great. Lake street dive does some tasteful music too. Jack white? Lord only knows what he might do🤓

I liked it, lots of good music variety, and a singing host who can actually sing.  I'm sure skits will get more polished as time goes buy, as will the host.  Wasn't expecting a comedian to do a set, that could be hit or miss, depending on personal taste.  Good show.

Not me...disappointed. I think they're trying to immediately move the demographic of the audience from 59 to 39 in one fell-swoop. Would be much better to engineer a more gentle transition. For example, instead of "Duane" getting a call from his Mother...maybe a "Darren" should now be getting a call from his Grand Mother.

Sure, but Sue Scott wasn't on stage tonight.  She's still shown on the cast listing, but apparently tending to other duties.  My wife thought she'd heard that Sue was taking part in a different acting obligation right now.

40 years ago Gary had a younger audience, too.  Give it time.

That was a hoot when CT asked how many single people were in attendance and about 4 people spoke up.

We attended a PHC dress rehersal once years ago.  Honestly, I didn't like *seeing* the show, sorta wrecked my ability to use my imagination when the skits were presented.  Life of the Cowboys, etc., means much more when it is only heard and not watched.  My opinion, anyway.  I listened via web stream tonight, from prairiehome.org, where they also streamed live video.  Good video quality, but only in small screen format, full screen was not available.  Watched the video a few times during songs, but not during skits.

I think the show is getting a much needed facelift. More entertaining to me being a lover of acoustic music. Not such a fan of dry humor and jaw flapping.

I thought the show was pretty good.  Better than I feared for sure.  The music was good and comedy was better than expected.

(BTW SLD- Chris did the Mother's Call skit when filling in for Garrison on a couple of show last season.  He was staying in Duane's house when Duane was out of town.)

I hope they keep John Hodgeman.   *he's a got a face for radio too

If Sue Scott gets back, it's gonna rule.

full disclosure:  I saw Garrisons's show Thursday night at a High School auditorium in Okla City.  He's passed the baton.
