Title: Still in the market for a white faced Veglia Borletti tach...
Post by: JJ on November 02, 2016, 04:14:44 PM
For my '98 Centauro GT, just like the one in the photo below.

A Guzzisti from Australia emailed me....has one, NIB, I said, "OK on his price, and give me your PayPal address"...and I never heard from him again (???)

I bought a Quota dash several years ago.. just in case. Sorry, JJ.. you can't have the tach.  I still have a couple of white face Veglias.. and I just might *need* the parts. That's the problem. The instruments are easy to fix, but you have to have the parts. <shrug>

If all else fails, can you get a single instrument dash and a set of lights? That's what I'll probably do when the tach on my Bassa fails (it reads over 2k with the engine off now, but seems accurate when under way).

my hands are too shakey even if I was a world class soldering guy.  But I have epxoied the counter weight.

In other news, the tail lights on my EV still work.

(thank you my friend)

Thanks all for the feedback.

I sent another email to Curtis Harper and TLM (Theo Lammers) in the Netherlands.

I really do not want to buy an entire donor bike just for a white-faced Veglia Borletti electronic tach!! (Geeez!!)  - - - but I will keep looking...undaunted by the scarcity of this item!

Sort of related...it's a White Veglia Tach question at least!

On my recently acquired Scura, some of the numbers on the white face of the Tach are faded, is there a place to just buy the face itself as the tach works just fine?  Pretty sure I could take the tach apart easily enough to get in there if I could find a new one....

OR

Should I just get some red ink and color it in a bit?

JJ, have you considered replacing the Veglia electronic tach with an electronic tach from Speedhut? Or did you want to keep the Centauro all original? I finally gave up dicking around with Veglia electronic tachs on my Cal II auto, and thats what I did. I think I paid about 150 bux. for it.
Rick.

It's doable.  I didn't find it easy.

probable the easiest is to cut it apart and solder it back.   I used a hose clamp and paint can opener filed to a sharp edge to remove the bezel.  I also had to go to a glass shop for replacement lens.

There's a photo spread on it here maybe 7 years old that I used as guide.  If was to do it over, I'd call Joel Levine.

I laughed when I read this,,, about 35 yrs ago,,, I thought I was up to the task of repairing a simple, old fashioned, Big Ben alarm clock,,, how complicated could it be? needless to say,,, the clock in pieces ended up in the garbage,,, lol,,, my history of mechanical prowess with fine gauges and devices, influenced a recent acquisition.

To the OP,,, keep an eye on EBAY,,, I needed a replacement speedo/dash console combo for my G5, and lucked into a very nice unit for a fair price from Ed Milich,,, some of the pieces are hard to come by,,, but they are out there,,, good luck in your search.

Kelly
