The Dayton Ohio area does have some things to see.....

Been there a dozen or so times and it's different every time.

It's midway between the Illinois and the New Cumberland rallys.

Beware, the museum at Dayton takes more than a day to see it all.  Took me three visits before I saw everything.  Helped too that I had a connection to the curator so got to see the work hanger as well.

Cool.

I used to go to Dayton for business.  Been many times, yet never went to the museum.  Now kinda kicking myself... ah well, definitely on the list for the next visit!

BTW, I've also heard Skyline Chili is a must in Dayton.  Not exactly the same caliber as the Air Force museum, but a bit of local culture.

Skyline Chili....meh. Gold Star Chili...another meh. My chili.......well worth the price.

Anyhoo, I mentioned the museum being midway between the Illinois and the New Cumberland rallys. Back in 2005 I received a call. He asked me if I was me and I said I was. He introduced himself as George Dalin from Bloomington MN and he had spent the last 3 days at the museum, there was nothing wrong with his bike, and he just wanted to say, "Hi." Cold call from the Contact Directory. They were spending the week between rallys seeing the sites. I turned off the grill and we rode to their motel to chat with them for a while. George got the oldest rider award at that New Cumberland National Rally.

They also have a huge RC airplane event every year.
