fed up with the behavior of photobucket with pop ups and ads, not too bad on my mac at work but my laptop got corrupted somehow and it became impossible to use at home..
I'm also on SmugMug which is easy to use..
so here's how I transferred all my pics (about 1,000) over to smugmug with just a few mouse clicks..
If you use Firefox as brouser you can download an app?. It's called Smuglr.
that you find in the tools drop down menu once added.. click that and follow prompts to select which folder or all of them in photobucket that you want transfered and click.. it took a couple minutes.. now my smugmug page has all the folders from my bucket account.. easy and cool.. no more pop up ads and I didn't have to transfer 1,000 pics individually from my Iphoto library.
no longer driving in loops!

I'm sort of in the same boat - a thousand or so pics on PhotoBucket, which is quickly failing in many ways, and all my newer ones on SmugMug, which is where I upload to and post from these days.
I use Chrome as a browser, so I'll look to see if there's some similar "app" like you used to do the transfer. In the meantime, it's working for me to just use PhotoBucket as a dead "archive", and SmugMug as my active photo program ...
Thanks for the heads-up!

you could get Firefox just for this purpose and forget about it after that.. there's no rule that you can't have 2 different browsers.
-
Same here, I use 3 browsers if the one messes up.
-
How does it get on with any pictures posted to here?
It's time someone showed us again the correct method of posting a picture
-
well I did have to move my main bucket photos to a folder before transfer so some might be lost since they don't reside there but I didn't delete them at PB.. some may not show up here but I have not posted from PB for a long time.. pics I have on here from Smugmug for months..
If your PB pics are in folders they will stay there and no problem, I did not delete or close the photobucket album.

Ah, Cheap, but not free, and for me it has to be. Any free ones that are better than photobucket?

I looked, and I've already got Firefox and didn't remember it .... !

Appreciate the info, I have been using Picassaweb but it has changed hands and will not allow new photos to be posted. I am looking for a new photo sharing site.
-
Smugmug has a small fee that I've already forgotten about paying. was worth it.. you pay to not have spam attached..
the smugglr app can transfer Picasa web albums too..
-
Photobucket doesn't have spam with the purchased version...does it?

If you want free, why not Flickr? 1 Terabyte free. Or gee, Google Photos, keep the file size one notch down from silly, and it is free with unlimited storage.
I use both.

Yeah, me too. Photobucket just got to be such a PITA. Yeah, I know.. what do you want for free, but still. About half the time it wouldn't work at all.

I've just tried both but on neither of them can I find a way to share the image on WG (which is the only reason I want one of these services)

If you can right click on your image and copy "image location" then paste that inside the insert image icon above.

It's easy on either one, when I get home tonight I'll demonstrate (unless someone beats me to it).
OK, when you go to your photo on Flickr, at the bottom right is an arrow going up and to the right, which is the share icon.
Click it, then copy the BB code which you will see as a choice, then paste it in your post.
