Title: The question for today is,
Post by: Jim Rich on November 16, 2016, 09:03:33 AM
Would it be wrong to own both a Harley and a Vespa scooter?   If it is ok, would it be alright to wear your ass-less chaps on the Vespa?

No on the first question and no on the second.

Chaps, by definition, are "assless", so I guess if cowboys can wear them, you can too.

Only if they are pink.

When I bought my new Vespa in 1979 (a nice red P200E), the Vespa shop in Jonesboro, GA had a big advert featuring a big craggy "traditionally rough-looking" Harley rider named John Kral, complete with leather jacket and chaps, with his Harley behind him, sitting on his new Vespa, and saying something like "The bike you ride doesn't make you a man - the 'man you are' makes you a man", and quoting him as saying that sometimes the Vespa just does a better job of what he wants to do that day .....

So it's OK with Vespa if you wear your regular riding outfit on their bike ....

I think it should be required that all Harley owner should have a Vespa.  They need to have a sporty ride to go along with the Harley.

Depends on how well the chaps fit.

A number of years back, I wore my full one piece racing leathers with knee sliders and my gear to the Rock Store on Mulholland on my wifes Honda 250 Rebel.  It actually went around the corners pretty good. It was so light and flimsy, you kind of control the frame flex your self.  You could lay it right over, and not worry..... Kind of fun to pass other bikes including a few sport bikes. It topped out at 85, but in the tight twisties, it was actually fun....

You don't have to convince me.  One of my favorite motorcycles in twisties is  my Yamaha DT100.  It'll do a good 65, which is faster than you need to go on roads like the Dragon.

1.  Yes.

2.  Yes, but only on Tuesday at Napoli's.  We're tired of messing with Craig.

You can do anything you are brave enough to do. Dew rag and chaps on a Vespa, sure, but you might make some friends you weren't expecting.

Most Harley guys already wear ridiculous outfits anyway, so who would notice?

Make yourself happy. This is the key to life. Start a trend, don't follow one.

I have a Vespa and a Harley (but no ass-less chaps).

From a very old exchange on WG .

Quote . By definition all chaps are assless .

Response. True , but the wearer of chaps , will , after sliding down the road at 80 MPH on their derriere are potentially assless chaps .

 Or something like that

Why do people hate chaps? They aren't intended as crash protection.

One of my neighbors has a K1600 BMW and a Vespa. That's not wrong. They serve different purposes and he enjoys them both for different reasons.

I'd like to see that make it up to the top of the hill in Haifa.

Many people think they are just like loud pipes.

The Vespa would be a faster ride in mtn. twisties/hairpins and in tight urban traffic aka rush hour traffic than any Harley.  This would be with the right rider.  Wear what you want.

I don't think there is a law against either!
