Thanks, I just wanted a second opinion.

Another question..  Are the hydro bikes quieter than the non hydro versions ?

I would say more "different" than quieter.  It's still a Guzzi and the hydro is in the strange noise club.

On the upgrade the shiny "hats" on the springs let you know it's been upgraded.

It just seems very quiet to me, but there are no others to compare it to.   I very much doubt I will see another Guzzi where I live.

What color are the hats normally ?

The original valve retainers were steel so were sort of gray in color and obviously able to attract a magnet. A hydraulic actuated valve system is pretty mechanically quiet. Think car like quiet, should only be hearing exhaust noise, very little mechanical noise.

Mine is exactly like that Brian, only the exhaust note is noticeable, and I would not say that was particularly loud either.

That is WAY too clean in there. Let me cook some oil on there for about 100,000 miles to test it out for you.
And yes, mine is very quiet. I hear wind noise, some exhaust noise, and occasionally the cam chain as it runs around the sprockets. Seldom can you hear the valves.

It's clean both inside and out.  I rode it before putting it away for the winter and it goes like shit off a shovel.    I think we got a good deal on it because of the time of year, it will be a long winter.
I hope there are no problems with the cam chain

Don't be so sure.  If you live anywhere near DonG, you might see more than you would expect.

Cheers,
Shaun

There are actually quite a number in the land, some people choose to own a number of them, I bought a 93 California in Strasbourg this summer, likely not too far from you. Come out to the CVMG run rally in Biggar August long weekend you may be impressed by the number of Guzzi's and associated nuts! DonG
