I have been looking at decal sets that Stein Dinse sells, to dress up the convert i am having repainted. My Eldorado sports a bunch of nice decals from when it was redone, but I don't know how they were done. So how are decals applied, and do they need to be clear coated or anything after application? Last time I used decals was when I was a kid building model cars, and I just soaked the decals in warm water and slid them off onto the car. Are the ones that are sold for our bikes the same sort of thing?
Thanks!

many of the decals on bikes are clear coated.
I crashed my suzuki 10 years ago and had to get it painted. I got the factory decals but the decal "floated" in the clear coat. The painter made stencils of the decal and painted it to finish the job.
don't know if this helps but it's my experience.

I've used these, clear coat or not. Self adhesive vinyl, no water needed.
