We have two of our own in the hospital with serious injuries , we have a couple more battling bad illnesses , loss of family members , dying dogs , etc . Hell , my sister sounds like she is dying , and probably wishes she could .
Why do I bring this up , well , because a small issue on the board just shouldn't elicit the amount of vitriol we have been dealing with today . Good grief guys , even Mike and I miss something every now and then , or say the wrong thing , this job doesn't pay all that great , although the perks are, well , hmm , OK , we have Luap's phone number , which rarely gets used because he is busier than the mods are in real life . All we are asking for is to recognize we are doing the best job we can to keep this place in order . We tend to think of all of you as family , so remember that before coming unglued over some perceived slight , some members of the family are dealing with life and death issues .
Back to your regular programming , and have a great evening .

Well put, Dusty.
Sometimes it may be that the very things you cite, while no excuse, can nevertheless explain stooopid things any of us say from time to time.
Condolences, btw, to and about your sister.
FWIW, while next week in Atlanta helping my brother with my 96YO mom, I will take a day or two to drive to Jacksonville to say goodbye to one of my dearest Army friends, who has a merciless, fast-acting cancer.
Oh, and yesterday, my ex-wife died. At 68. That is ripping my children up, with obvious impact on me.
So, you are so right. Quarreling and quibbling about trifles here is pointless and a waste of spirit.

Oh, I like that one..
-
Yep.... Fair enough, (again)

Thanks for the re-direct Dusty

Oh, I like that one..
Fine statement here. Seems like people go out of thier way to find something to rant about.
I like Donald Southerland's line in Kelly's Heroes "enough negative vibes man"
Spend 15 years working with severely handicapped and ALS and MS patients and you'll learn how to be more positive.

Those are two nasty diseases. I lost two friends to ALS in the last few years. What a shitty way to go.
I didn't even see the post(s) that brought this on, I can only imagine.
Happy Cyber Monday everyone!

As is often the case, I seem to have been late enough to have missed something significant.
Regardless, I agree so much with all that has been said in the thread. Living to 70 (almost), has taught me to not sweat the small stuff -- and it's almost ALL small stuff.
Keep a smile and always grant the benefit of the doubt :)
Best,
Carlo

Thanks for the support fellas . Mike and I both agree that with family members in good standing that names should never be mentioned , and there was a misunderstanding that simply escalated . Mike was very busy today , as was I , things got a bit heated up . No harm no foul , it's all good , c'est parfait , alles is gut , dat on dey na .

Good to think about.
I haven't said much here, but I guess I will now. I'm in the midst of a battle with stage 2b testicular cancer. I have one more cycle of chemo starting next week and then dr will evaluate what if anything more is to be done in the short term. There is no certainty, but my prognosis is good, and odds are good for full recovery. But right now it's a dam hard to road to stay on the pegs. This board helps me get through each day. I thank my lucky stars for my family, and for my chance to interact with all you SOBs!
For me this place and the folks who populate it mean more than I can say.

Hang in Chad , we are all with you .

Sometimes it is kind of easy to let things get a bit out of prospective. Many on this forum have interacted enough either by this forum, rallies, or riding together to feel and sometimes interact like siblings. i.e. We may quarrel at times over basically trivial crap but really do hang together when the crap hits the fan and there is a fair amount of crap hitting the Guzzi family right now. So all please keep that in mind and let's all continue the mutual support that makes this family so great. :thumb:

In Australia, we argue with our mates more than strangers, it's sort of an admission that we value their opinion... Even if it's wrong. Some blokes skins are a bit thin to be riding motorbicycles.

Just wanted to show how us Yanks can "take the piss" as well as you Ozzies  The problem is , we have so many cultures represented on WG that a bit of decorum is necessary . Heck ol' buddy , we have 7 distinct cultures right here in the U.S. , we just speak the same language , Sort of , some of those boys up in NYC are hard to understand

Fixed it for you Dusty
However I agree with you. Life really is too short to get all bent out of shape because some bloke in a different part of the world wrote something you disagree with.
Huzo might consider me to be the ancestor of one of the Pommey Bastards that exported his great great great granddad for stealing a loaf of bread because he was starving.
I hope that he thinks of me as just another bloke with an interest in CARC bikes

Those Aussies haven't even learned how to flush their toilets so that they swirl in the right direction.
Sorry Sas, but what do you mean by flush ? Are they supposed to change colour or something... I've heard in some countries there's a beaut thing where you can press a button or pull a chain and some water comes out to wash away the do do, but I'd gave to see it to believe it, haven't come across one here.

Sorry I was out of contact yesterday.
Funeral to attend.
The US Army honor guard with M1 Garands, a bugle, and bagpipes was an awesome touch to an otherwise sad day in a small town in The Ozarks.

Well, the term hang might be in bad taste..
I would say I'm pulling for you, Chad my man.. but that doesn't work, either.
I know how you feel? No, no, that's just not right..
Seriously, Chad.. the big C is nothing to kid about. Fortunately, it sounds like you caught it in time. Best of luck.. and skill from your body mechanics.

 Deeply embedded in 'Long Drop Central' are we Huzo?
I missed what ever the fuss was about but I suspect a minor cultural clash. It's bound to happen from time to time and the Mods are more than capable of sorting it.

Yeah mate that's about it. I wondered the other day about this gravity thing and it's influence on beaut things like long drops. If everything is attracted to the centre of the Earth then anything that was released would head off toward the Earth's core and congregate at that point, even stuff that left from the other side !!! Not a good place to be for sure, and pretty hot I'm told old bean...

New guy here, both to the Guzzi brand and fourm, so I was wondering if this is the right time to bring up what is the best brand of oil to use in my Bassa? Thought that might help lighten the mood a bit, nothing like a good oil thread to form Hatfield and McCoy feuds within the first five posts.
Seriously I would just like to comment on what I have found so far in Goose ownership and the members of this forum. I have never seen such a group willing to help, give advice, or at least point you in right direction with such kindness and character. When I was searching for a bike in the Moto Guzzi lineup I met a number of owners on line who went out of their way to help me find the right machine. I am nothing but pleased, both with the bike and the friends I have met along the way. As a large number of you here I am getting a little long in the tooth. Hopefully those added years have made me a wee bit wiser when you post on one of these forums. It could also be having spent 32 years in law enforcement and observing what horrendous things humans can do to each other that make me consider forum fights nothing but trivial, regardless of the topic. ( I did receive a suspension on another unnamed British bike forum for my comment about a fellow member setting out bowls of anti-freeze for neighborhood cats, we all slip now and then.)
Finally to all those injured, suffering from dreaded big C and the host of other debilitating miladies out there, my prayers go out each and everyone and their families. We just spent out final Thanksgiving with my favorite Brother-in-law, he is in stage four and there are no other treatments available.
Again from a newbie, thanks to the moderators of this outstanding forum for their time and contributions, and I truly hope everyone has a joyful Christmas Holiday.......
-
Nice sentiments there britman. Could not have said it better.
You will find many of us here started off/still have Brit bikes. What one(s) do you have/have had?
-
Jeez Britman, that was well put. I thought the only place I could get a breath of fresh air was on the bike... Damn, first time I've ever been wrong !!! Welcome, Huzo.
-
Yes , well said britman :thumb:
Would like to add something here . The culture on WG is amazing , and that is the important issue at hand . The Admins and Mods are simply custodians , well , except for Luap , who did create this place, and selflessly gives of his time to make sure WG's "mechanics" run so flawlessly . In all of the years that motorbikes have been central to my existence I have never encountered a group as supportive and decent as this bunch . A recent event really brought that home to me , won't mention the person involved , he knows who he is
