Title: Oil Filter
Post by: Guzzidad on December 23, 2016, 11:01:07 AM
I bought a 2012 Norge second hand. I'm getting ready to change oil for the first time. The previous owner was using Puralator PL10241 filters. I bought a Wix 51348XP. Curious what filters others are using.

I'm using WIX on my V11s. I took the word of some experienced, high-mileage owners who had done the research.

Lots of people happy with WIX, and the Bosch. I use the Mobil M1-102 - the bike has 120,000 miles on it now, so I guess it's a pretty good filter. The main reason I use this one is that it's a high quality filter that's available pretty much everywhere; while the Bosch brand is carried at some easy shops (like Walmart), when I was looking around I didn't see the 3330 in stock as often.

I tried the Purolator one time and for whatever reason the seal didn't seat quite right.

you cant go wrong with the Bosch( what I use) or the Wix, both excellent filters, I would stay away from Fram, though.
Enjoy your new Guzzi, they are fantastic bikes!

My understanding is the 3330 that is marked "Made in USA" are made by Purolator.

I have run OEM, purolator, fram, walmart Tech filters, and Mobil one.  That's what I running now for a while, bought a case a great price, so am set for 6 changes. m1-209.

the only one that leaked was the OEM filters, go figure.

Thanks to all who responded. Glad to know the Wix filter I bought has positive comments but I also wrote down the numbers of the other filters people like.

I was just wondering, I just bought a 96 1100 Sport, and the previous owner gave me a several "new" oil filters, which could possibly be about five years, or even a little older by now. The filters were stored inside of his garage up in Ann Arbor Michigan. (picture) Do I have to worry about the filters breaking down over time, or should they stay good for years and years as long as they are stored in a dry place?
