 He flirted with rally racing also . My guess is , like Jeff Gordon being offered a ride with Williams , or Hailwood's brief romance with open wheeled cars , the money just wasn't really there . Or , like a somewhat famous sprint car driver said after moving to Nascar , I don't get to make the "decisions" anymore , the team tells me what to do .

I believe Rossi has and is still running Rally car competition when he's not road racing.
