Since the 441 Victors and B50s have jumped in price, they're trying to drag the 250s with them.

I'll be surprised if they drag this one over $1000, though.   An enormous amount of work to do to make a real runner, and the chances are 80-20 that that hard-to-find muffler is rusted through on the bike-side surface ....

If you're in the market for a unit 250, here's one that looks worth the money being asked ...

As always, get up close and personal with it before buying.   Pics always look good ....

I always heard those Triumph 250s were dogs when new.

They sort of were, mainly by comparison with the offerings from the Japanese and European makers.

If you treated them mildly, and did the regular maintenance, they would do OK ... but people didn't buy this class of bike to treat them gently.   Their owners were trying to keep up with Yamaha DS-3s and Honda CB-250s, and race them against CZs and Maicos, and failing miserably ... so most of them were blown up, chucked into a shed, and gradually merged with the dust and dirt therein ...

A friend had one years ago, worst thing Triumph did was use that BSA engine..He rode it on the road flat out... I had my hands in that damned engine so many times to repair the blow up of the week....Same for the Triumph 200CC Cub, ridden with respect  they were ok ...

Eddie Mulder used to win national Short Track races well up into the 70s on a racing-modified Triumph Cub.   The design was OK as long as you used it for what it was ... but that's not what makes the stuff of legends, or of modern "barn find" classics!
