Title: Heel/toe shifter for 1400 series?
Post by: Luap McKeever on February 17, 2017, 08:53:29 PM
Anyone know a source? I miss the heel/toe days of the EV and would love to have it in the mgx. I can make one, but thought I'd check first.

I'd think the cali 1400, audace, custom, eldo linkage is probably all the same...

It's a bolt-on Moto Guzzi accessory (or supplied with the bike new), as far as I know, for all that series. The part number is/was B063751 for the Cali 1400 Touring. They may have changed this for the latest bikes.

There's a few that have discarded the heel, as it is a bolt on arrangement for the Touring and Custom.  Does the Flying Fortress not have holes where the heel could just be bolted on the existing lever?

Not that I can tell.

Thanks for the info.  But, it looks different to me.  I may just have to make one.  With the limited number of these bikes available, I bet it's not an accessory.

Further review shows that the MGX and Audace share the shift gear since they are pegged.

Looks to me like the floorboard models are one way w/heel/toe and footpeg models are the other. Could you find someone w/a Custom or Eldo model close by to compare? Then you could maybe swap to see if all clears the frame and peg plus works for your foot.

Great idea. I'll do that.

Went over to look at Steve Walkers bike. Although the shift levers are not the same,  I went ahead and ordered the part B063751 as ITSEC suggested.  I will drill/tap my shifter and make it work.  Thanks for the ideas and input fellas.

Received the heel shifter yesterday and mounted it today. Took a little finagling and modifying to get it to fit nice. Took for a test run and love it.  Easier than making my own and well worth the money in my opinion.  FWIW, the MGX shares the foot gear as the Audace, so if you have an Audace and wanted a heel shifter, this option works just fine after about 5 minutes of modifying.
