Post by: guzziownr on February 23, 2017, 10:39:45 AM
The Eldo was reluctant to start so I had a look at the plugs.  It did start and run...

A-install new plugs.  Same Bosch.
B-where did that piece of porcelain go?
Hmmmm?

Hard to tell, but it looks like some oil is being burned in that cylinder.

Possibly, but weak ignition can look like that.

A plug like that can be caused by detonation .....Oil contaminates the fuel air mixture increasing the possibility of detonation.Sometime s detonation is so severe pieces of piston break off..Is that an older bike with chrome plated cylinders?.....Or it's just a defective plug... The piece could have been blown out the exhaust... If a bore scope is handy you may want to have a look inside the cylinder...

New plugs and went for a ride.    No plans to take the bike apart this season.  The old warhorse will just have to soldier on.
