I keep two bikes insured for liability , medical , and uninsured motorist ; 1976 Guzzi T-3 and 1987 BMW R80 , same limits on both bikes . No comp/coll .
Seems the two bikes from an insurance risk point of view are very similar , but the BMW , despite being lighter and less powerful costs about 60% more to insure .

Same deal. My V7C costs the same as my Triumph Sprint. The 900 Monster I just bought costs the same as both of those together. Same liability only policy on all 3. Lady says it was because of more claims on Ducati's?

Well up here in the Great White North the cost to insure your T-3 for 12 months would depend a bit on your driving record but typically you are looking at anywhere from $1024.00 - $1200.00. The BMW would run about $1274.00 - $1442.00 . DonG

The BMW is 11 years newer.
Here in NY , the older the bike ...the cheaper. I dunno know if it the reason or just a coincident .

Yeah , get Chuckie and Leafy on one side , then Ohiorider and me on the other and that can get ugly enough

why should liability , medical , and uninsured motorist be more expensive for one bike over another? :blank:
it appears any "risk" is with rider and the amount of coverage -not the bike- since the bike isn't insured.
I just don't get it.

The Scura costs the most by far out of my fleet because it has "Sport" in it's name. Even more than the new Norge when I had that.
It's worth it.

Both my Guzzis cost me $135 a year combined. One is liability and the other is full.

Who are you insured with ? That sounds almost too good to be true .

Here on the west coast 60% of my Griso 1100 & v11 Lemans insurance is for uninsured drivers.
Heck even my baby boy's '03 Aprilia 150 scooter 60% of the cost in for uninsured drivers.
Still at least I'm not in Los Angeles where 40% of the accidents are hit-n-runs.

Wow , they charge me $120.00 a year for liability on one bike and I have no tickets or accidents . Also don't live in a high risk area . Are you 100% sure one bike has full coverage ?

Yup. Have a loan on the bike, they require proof of full coverage.
