Only way to find out is to ask them. Prices look a bit steep to me for small tank Stelvios in the US anyway, especially ones that old.

I dont think I've ever seen an ad that referenced the failure or roller fix, hard to believe the news hasn't gotten out yet (or worse, problem bikes being unscrupulously unloaded knowingly)....
-
There's an '09 Griso in NC on mgnoc classifieds with low miles and no mention of roller tappets. If any NC guzzimen know the seller, might want to suggest that giving the tappet status update is the right thing to do. The seller might not even know there's a big problem (or it may be fixed already and the bike is more salable).

There was a 2004 Jackal just sold on eBay with a single plate clutch. Not mentioned in the listing but I asked the seller and he replied it had the single plate clutch and that the PO declared the hydro update was done. Bike had something like 6K miles on it........ No way to contact buyer to let him know. So it really is buyer beware.....

When I see them on Ebay I try and post a question on it (rollers or hydro). I have had one seller take an add down so I saved at least one unsuspecting buyer.
-
6 K is about the average life of an original Hydro engine before it is in danger of catastrophic damage.
I would be extremely suspicious.

Re: Stelvios, any dealer can get in Guzzi's system with the VIN number and find out if cam upgrades are done or not, and which ones. Don't know what records (if any) are available on the hydros.
I love my '09 Stelvio, and had the rollerization done this past fall with 11000 miles on the clock (just barely showing a bit of wear, so no harm done.) I figured if I keep it, which I intend, I'm all set, and if I should decide to sell at some point, I can do so with a clear conscience.

The single front disk and lack of tachometer just made me think it was a Jackal. Someone got it for $2750. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2004-Moto-Guzzi-CALIFORNIA-/272561542846?ul_noapp=true&nma=true&si=MXpPsTWpPCadP%252FCWu6SNL2U%252BkYk%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/2004-Moto-Guzzi-CALIFORNIA-/272561542846?ul_noapp=true&nma=true&si=MXpPsTWpPCadP%252FCWu6SNL2U%252BkYk%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557)
Good deal until the clutch goes out.
