Has anyone with a big block had any experience with this stuff? It's so easy to find around here but I can't tell if it meets all the specs.

Anyone know? Thanks

More then likely

What does your Manual say ?

Bet you could stick 10W40 in both places and neither you or the bike would ever know the difference!!!

Yep, that's probably right - you could put engine oil in your transmission and gearbox and they'd be just fine. Having gear oil that's different than engine oil is just a plot from the oil companies to make more money!

I am running that in my Stelvio. So far it seems fine - and based on what I read in the manual and on the label it meets or exceeds specs.

Thank you so much.
See fellas, was that so hard?

As always, the key thing is whether it meets the specs. Ideally, a gear oil that meets the specs for both straight-cut gears and hypoid gears will allow the use of the same product in both the gearbox and final drive so long as the weight range is also appropriate.
Lucas could spend a bit less space congratulating themselves and a bit more speaking to specific applications (the tech sheet is a bit less tech than sheet), but it's decent stuff and a reasonable choice. I can't recall anyone blaming Lucas oil for a failure.
Should anyone want the original specs from AGIP for the CARC lubes for a baseline reference, here are they are:

THX for that.

Thanks and you are right. The tech sheet sucks that Lucas puts out.

Sorry guy's , I guess I don't know what your looking at but the spec sheet for the lucas product and the agip are almost identical.
Exceeds GL5, mil specs the same , flash points, viscosity index etc . Looks like it fits the bill, where am I going wrong??

I sorta wonder why this needs proving and re proving. If I wasn't sure what to use, I'd just find someone who hasn't managed to destroy one in 100,000 miles and just use what he does. Put the stuff in and ride.

If that's the criterion, then my 122,000 mile Norge (new in 2011) has used Mobil1 75w90 in both gearbox and final drive for most of its life, and ELF/Total 10w60 (and more recently, Liqui-Moly) in the crankcase. It's still doing nicely...

Well that's a slam dunk. I'd take your advice without hesitation if I was looking for guidance. I use Motul 7100 in the donk and Motul 80w90 in the gearbox and bevel drive. Never had anything else from new and gearbox is as smooth as my Suzuki Bandit or similar. My Norge has less k's than yours at 112,000 but clearly you're on the money.

I also use the 7100 in the motor
re the tranny/bevel I went and talked to a company that blend the oil you need with a copy of the specs that ITSec put up.
They're response was that "there's nothing special about that its just mineral oil" so just under a litre of their finest went in yesterday

Thanks for the vote of confidence. As a side-note, to demonstrate my open-mindedness, I should note that my previous DL1000 V-Strom reached 137,000 miles using Shell Rotella 5w40 engine oil. It's my preferred lube for wet clutch water-cooled bikes unless they need a heavier oil.
I have a high regard for Motul - but in my market it's priced unreasonably high and availability is specialty shop only, so it's on my back-up list rather than a #1 choice.

CARC spec is API-GL4
Gearbox is API-GL-5
Anything in that spec range should work.
where you can get the ENI 'AGIP' stuff: http://stelviontx.blogspot.com/2015/11/fluids-change.html
I avoid lucas items because of the quick fix 'anti-leak' and other BS patch products they sell. Personal pref. only.

Go here https://www.eni.com/en_NL/products-services/automotive-lubricants/transmission-oils/transmission-oils.shtml for specific info on all the Eni Lubricants
Especially go to the very bottom to the " CONVERSION TABLE ROTRA " https://www.eni.com/en_NL/attachments/pdf/conversion-table-rotra-EN.pdf
I've just down loaded the data sheets for the MG "special" oil plus the bog standard ones - very little if any difference IMO - which is not a huge surprise I would think
