I've got the Norge panniers on my B11 and one of the lock barrels keeps coming out with the key
When in place it locks and unlocks as it should, but I assume something is worn/busted in the mechanism
Anyone experienced this before and got any pointers as to what might be amiss?
Cheers

I thought there is a circlip that retains those in place?
Yes, I am avoiding Kathi's honey-do list by responding on (yet another) thing I know little about. :thewife:

That's I would have expected too Bill but there's no sign of a grove so I'm a bit nonplussed

PS I wont tell Kathi if you don't

As much as I hate to contribute to Bill's sizable ego ........he may be correct.
Here is a picture of the "dirty" lock on my '07 Norge side cases.

and a slightly cleaner one

That part of it is all there on mine Nick.
Its the alloy barrel with the brass sticky out locking features that pulls out of "female locking bit" (see how good I am with descriptive text ) in the case that causing the problem.
Its almost like its been forced past some stop and now doesn't function properly but I'm damned if I can spot it!
But a picture paints a thousand words, so I'll try and get some pics tonight

When I got my Norge bags they came with no lock cylinders from the factory. This was great as my 1200 Sport had come with 3 extra lock cylinders so I could have matching keys.
Installation was simply, the new lock cylinders just snapped into place. I have no idea what holds them in there but I can tell you that there was no fiddling with snap rings or anything else as part of the installation. I've always wondered what holds them in there.

I was under the impression that the smaller of the 2 circlips shown actually holds the barrel down (http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s180/ndicroce/emoticons/TFR99.gif) (http://s152.photobucket.com/user/ndicroce/media/emoticons/TFR99.gif.html)

My sizable ego indubitably persuaded you.

And now with pictures

The red blobs are there to remind me where to stop
If I turn the key clockwise it comes to a stop, if I turn it anti-clockwise it just goes straight past the red mark and then the barrel can be pulled out.
If I had snail eyes on stalks I might be able to stick one down here and see what does what :thumb:

This engages with a similar "T" at the bottom. There's no indication that its broken off

Its difficult to see here, but the second from bottom slot (RH end) doesn't have a sticky out brass lock piece. Trouble is I have no idea if it should do!!!
Any thoughts???

I would think a locksmith is the right person to answer your question. I have a similar issue with one of my pannier locks, which is starting to need extra travel to move the latch piece and actually unlock the bag or take it off. However, I've been too lazy to do anything about it yet.

I MIGHT have sussed it

These are one of the few pictures that show images of the offending item
The bottom tumbler (??) on these stick out with the key in and mine barely does. That could be because
a) they're gunged up
b) worn out
c) spring has gone AWOL
If I'm lucky a touch of WD40 will take care of it. If not I might need a bit of silver solder or spring from somewhere
Watch this space, wife and dog are off to take care of a poorly stepson tomorrow night so I'll take a look and report back
