the 917 30 is the blue car next to the 16 cyl. The 30 was a 12 cyl turbo, good for 1000hp.
the 16 cyl was never raced.
I shot the pics at the Amelia Island Concours.

For me, this is it when it comes to porsche porn.

My wife and I owned a '62 356B Normal Coupe. We lived in Lacrosse, WI at the time and were heavily involved in sports car activities.
The "Normal" (or, sometimes called the Damen) was the lowest power of the three available options. It had 60 HP (as I recall), the SC had 75 HP and the Super-90 had 90 HP. Great car, very comfortable for touring.

Did someone say Porsche porn? 935 Le Mans winner from 1979 and a 910. Got a tour this week at Bruce Meyers private collection in Beverly Hills. Silly money in that garage.

I've driven them....and ridden in them...both vintage and modern, but it is one of those cars (...unless I win the lottery   ), that I will probably never get to own due to the cost (SIGH...) :undecided:
This one seen a few weeks ago at a car show in the Verde Valley, AZ. Lovely! :thumb:  :1:

Surely you're referring to the 356 models...as the new ones are about as good a sports car as you can get!!
AZ: There is a very nice private Porsche museum in Gmund, Austria well worth a visit if you get a chance, I had a chance to visit 3 years ago during the winter. Very nice collection and if you're familiar with the history of Porsche, you'll see the significance of the 356 first K-car there. Some of the original Wood frame models are there, gives you an appreciation for how early body work was done.
And as with all little Austrian towns, there's an unbeatable bakery in town on the main street...not a bad road trip if you can get the time away!

I'd love to own that one.

The ride into/out of Stuttgart, was a "pain in the arse",
The Porsche Museum was the real deal though, as one would expect, sensational, professional, sharp, slick, well worth the effort.

Turn it up loud...and enjoy the sweet sound of the 917!!
Memories of LeMans and Steve McQueen racing...

I had a chance to get a 912 pretty cheap about 10 years ago. Now there worth a bunch. From what I hear the where really the best handling and built cars for all the street Porsches up to that time. It was a nice driving ride.
Also had a chance to get a 911S for a grand more than I paid for my then new VW Rabbit in 1977.

This would be the "Dame", meaning "Lady", because of its very good behaviour.

Porsches are still my favorite cars. I used to live near the factory and frequented the Porsche museum even before it was moved into the huge building it's in now (last visited in 2015). I remember as a kid trying to get into the test track, but they wouldn't let us. Through the trees we could hear and sometimes see the new Porsches racing around the track. Have you guys read about the new 911R? Now that car is a piece of art!

A friend of mine here has a 1970 911 T for sale...
Quite a ride...!

Lucky you living so close to the factory!! The 911R is a beautiful machine...there was one at the dealership here a few weeks ago...could only peek into it....no touching allowed. Last I heard, it was sold...absolutely beautiful machinery and nice cloth seats (2 color).

Some of my brother's Porsches (his remarks along with them):
1979 Porsche Euro-spec 930, 3.3L. Originally dark green w/green interior, I totally restored it and painted it blue with black interior. What a rocket! The other is a 1980 911SC Weissach edition I bought with only 10K miles, totaled on the left side, smashed a foot into the car and roof buckled. A lot of work but brought it back to perfection. I was about 25 or so when I rebuilt the lower one, 28 the blue one. All body and paint work done by myself!

1968 Porsche 911L. Me, in my early~mid 20's. This car had four layers of paint, each a different color, interspersed with areas of body putty and lots of rust. I stripped it down to bare metal and performed a total restoration plus a few little upgrades on the body as it went along.

Charlie...I've seen your reports on here regarding Moto restorations, but you've reached God status with those Porsche restorations!

It wasn't me - it was my brother Karl. I dabbled in a few Mercedes W108 and Fiat lost causes, quickly discovering cars were too darn expensive to restore and took up too much room!
