This CX looks complete except I've never seen a seat like that before. The red paint looks like new. I figure if he get's $5,500 for it he'll be doing good.

How is it 1100cc like the ad claims? Misprint?

Unless it's been substantially modified, it's 949 cc just like an SP, Convert or G5 of the same period.

Not only that but since he put 36mm carbs on it he should have had the bigger valve heads done too. Otherwise I don't see any improvement.

I don't think the purpose of the deep sump was to add 2 qts of oil? it was to have access to the filter and if it's a Bub sump? I've heard bad things about them.

Given where the price of a nice original 1976 ~ 78 Le Mans is at I think this is a real bargain.
When the Le Mans MK I get over $20K US (and they will in another year or two) I think this will seem like a steal.

If that's what you want, doesn't seem like a bad deal to me <shrug> The CX is a kick ass machine, I've been riding one for 28 years.

The BUB sumps could blow an engine for you! The "oil lines" they installed were brass air fittings with air hose jammed on them. They rot with age and will blow out loosing oil pressure to your engine. You'll have a huge internal oil leak and wonder why.
The fix I found was to take the old hoses to a hydraulic services company and have new oil lines made with Teflon lined SS hose. You'll need small hands to install them. But once in, no more worries. (Had one on my Mille' GT years ago and folks run up to me in a panic when they saw the BUB sump! :Beating_A_Dead_Hors e_by_liviu)

From the ad:
It is currently not in running condition. I think it is a minor electrical problem due to my replacing the starter switch???
-
Maybe fly and push home... not in running condition...what else could be wrong???

I've had my 1st Guzzi `81 CX100 for 33 years. But compared to the new 1s it's now long in tooth. Not as ancient feeling as my `71 Ambassador was but...........still a handsome bike. My CX was my 1st real sport/touring bike. Rode with friends who had BMW sport/touring bikes and had no problem leading the way.
