I saw an 09 Red Stelvio listed in my region and was wondering if I should avoid it, I currently own an 02
California Stone which will be Uber reliable. The red Stelvio is just so cool.

J would find out if it has roller & spring kit in the heads, shock bracket, center stand, ecu boot, all upgrades under warranty done. Lots of technical bulletins. Then maybe w/Beetle map.

Thanx for reply, I did some more research , a guy went to Austin and he met the Guzzi tech guy
And long story short the 09s got the parts delivered for the roller upgrade. The one I found has some nice upgrades , low miles and a Power Commander. I'll probably still just keep my Stone, its Orange, lol

All of the earlier flat tappet bikes will fail. Getting the top end sorted is the first chore. After that greasing the swingarm bearings and shock linkage is second followed by adding a remote breather to the bevelbox if you plan to go wet and. Dirty places.
Other than that there is absolutely no need or benefit to add 'Black Box' add-ons as the W5AM controller is an open book for tuning. Do it yourself if you have the skills or buy from those who do. Choose wisely though. Anyone offering absurd peak power claims should be avoided like the plague.
Like all bikes the Stelvio has good and bad points but the huge 'Elephant in the Corner' is the flat tappet issue. Other than that it's just standard modern motorbike stuff that revolves around poor assembly practice and inadequate development of mapping.
Buy it. Fix that which needs fixing and enjoy one of the last bikes with the Guzzi name on before they became fat, ugly and stupid.

I would ask for a pic of the valve cover off and run the VIN#.
