Hey to any blokes in the U.K. and regarding this years Nordkapp trip on the Norge. It's not too late if anyone wants to take a short ride from Dover to Nordkapp starting around August 7 or so. I'll be at Heathrow on the 2nd and visiting a bit then down to Dover. For any continental European members, I can arrange to meet under the clock tower in Calais at midday on the 7th or something like that and do a short ride to the tip of Norway. I guarantee if you're on time, I'll have your cappuccino waiting and hot !!! I'll be heading South after that down to Sicily for a look at Mount Etna and then thrash around in France, Spain and Italy etc. Hi to the guys around London who have offered hospitality, you may regret it...

Nah just joking about the "odd hour". You wanna PM me your mobile and I'll call you between midnight and 5am Australian time, 3pm to 8pm for you I think. Sounds damn interesting. Where are you in U.K. ? Contact me here throughout the day though by all means. I'm heading out for a couple of hours to do a message but stay in touch.

I use Tourinsure, easy to deal with and always answer their phone. Might hear from you when in U.K. I'm arriving Aug 2 and probably depart Calais around Aug 6 ish. You'll be a couple of weeks ahead of me but we'll see what occurs. Might catch you on your way back down, all do able with wi fi and Tom Tom or Garmin. See ya'

Huzzo, got my UK breva sorted, insured, taxed and on the go. I'm doing a shake down tour of Scotland to check I'd all out. Then back to the people looking after me in Stoke, service the bike and over to Europe. Around 27 July. Thinking ferry from Hull to Rotterdam rather than south to Dover. I'll be a little ahead of you,but let's plan a rendezvous

Will be interested to hear about the ferry alternative Hull to Rotterdam. I have always done the Dover /Calais thing, but some sense in your idea. Dunno....Have been told my Norge is on the floor ready to go in London so nearly there !

I haven't booked the ferry yet but look like about gbp 250 one way. Hull is close to Stoke. So I'm figuring I'm going to save Just on 2 days riding and fuel by doing the ferry. Any local knowledge appreciated though

That's always a decision to make , but I guess you can make the case that you're there to ride your bike primarily. Soooooo.. I take the line that you've got 250 quid to put through the Breva and see that part of England, although having said that, ferries are exciting things too. Definitely a first world problem. Yeah look, the ride from Calais to Rotterdam isn't that great in itself, but stuff always happens to make it ok. I did look into Felixstowe to Hook of Holland but then thought... Nah. I just bloody love that descent down the hill into Dover and that first glimpse of the English Channel is always a slap in the face moment. That's what I 'm definitely gunna do.. Unless I change my mind, which I won't... or maybe I will.. or ?

Are you doing the Atlantic Road ? It's spectacular and the diversion to Lofoten is worth it. About 10 k before Svolvaer there's a camping ground on the left and the people are really cool. I'll forward an e mail of theirs to you so you'll have it for your information. Tell them I'm ok and may see them soon. Coming back down from the Nordkapp via East Coast of Sweden to Uppsala is boring as bat shit but it is faster if that's your desire. Of all the places you MUST see on the way up, Geiranger is the duck's guts and you drop from 4,000 odd feet, to sea level (it's a fjord) VERY VERY quickly, be bloody careful, I was there 4 days before the Summer solstice and the road was ICE !!!

Huzo, booked the ferry for the night. Cost GBP186. Not bad when you consider it's overnight accommodation, breakfast and for me being up north a few tanks of fuel to get down to Dover and the up to Holland from Calais. That's my reckoning anyway.

If you just wanna get started on the Denmark/ Norway thing with no more rooting around, there's no arguing with the logic. I just love that descent into Dover though, parking on the footpath and buying that ticket. "Thank you Sir, lane 186" ... 8 days to go !!!

Yeah Qantas QF9 ex Melbourne had a diversion the other day, on board engine fire (of sorts). Could be a worry, if the other 3 stopped mid flight, I'd be stuck up there all night and never get down! Are you going over the Bridge to Nowhere in the province of Molde on the Atlantic Road?

Sounds like you're in a hurry, but I'll try to follow this thread.

In the unlikely case you should be passing through Bruges, Belgium, you are welcome. After confirmation in writing, weekdays only and between 9 -17 am/pm. We can discuss any fee later on  Just kiddin' of course, any time, any place. You name it ;-)

@Huzo. It would be great to see some pictures on your travels through Norway. I love that place.
You had a thread going about inserting pictures a while back. If you're travelling and have a smart phone, I find by far the easiest way is to use the Tapatalk app. It's a great tool for reading the forums of your choice and pasting pictures is a doddle! Just click on "+" while your writing your post and choose the picture from your photo library. Just a suggestion.

Well I'll be staying on the east side, but I'll be watching the weather forecast for the west coast and hope you're in luck and not washed away.

Have a nice trip, remember no speeding!

Yeah, you're in a hurry all right if you took the fast ferry from Hirtshals?
An Australian built catamaran with a top speed of 48 knots, although probably not quite that fast in regular service.
2 1/4 hours trip now, when I was young I believe it took all day, or over night.....
-
Hmmm. Primary goal is to operate within the weather window. No rush, will savour whatever comes up but have just set Tom Tom for Svolvaer and will obey that. Want to take a little trip to Sicily after Nordkapp then France and Spain.

I warmly recommend, instead of taking the E39 from Kristiansand towards Stavanger, take the 9 north until you reach Rysstad, then westwards over the mountains towards Stavanger.
Lovely roads, and you get the chance to go down to Lysebotn at the bottom of the Lysefjord. Possible to take the ferry on one of the most spectacular fjords, going past Pulpit Rock, and in any case plenty of hairpins down to Lysebotn!

I guess you know this because it isn't your first time in that part of the world, but going via Svolvaer on the way up only really makes sense if you take the ferry from Bodo and ride north through the Lofoten. It would be a pity if you just followed the Tom Tom and ended up in Svolvaer having to turn around! [emoji23]
Don't forget to enjoy the ride!

Yeah that's the advice I got of another bloke, but I didn't want to get to Bodo and find the ferry was either just left or way too dear or had a hole in it or, or, .... Bugger it ! I'll take the bike. That's the good thing about Alzheimer's, even though I'm backtracking, I get to see new and interesting places !
-
Well Ok, but it's a pretty inconvenient detour if you're trying to make time. Maybe this will help you decide. Here are the ferry times from Bodo to Moskenes (Lofoten). Sailing time is 3 to 4 hours. Price seems to be NOK 444. (EUR 47)

If you do cross over, it might be wise to take a very early ferry and make as much use of the morning as possible. From 1400 onwards it's looking wet! (On the mainland too by the way!)

I didn't get a shot, but there I was today filling up with Bli Frie or whatever they call the stuff that makes the Guzzi go, and I happened to look across at the door of the servo. Well bugger me ! There as large as life was a promotional poster of the most fantastic American country music singer Norway has ever vomited forth.
He had a ten gallon hat on a five gallon head, and looked like he'd just come from the moose wrangling semi finals or similar... The thing I couldn't figure was, if you're trying to imitate Alan Jackson, do you really need the bright red beard encircling your entire head?? He'd have been more at home on a Tuna boat on the Arctic Ocean in a force four gale. The poster said, "Tonight, for one night only" thank bloody goodness for that. It was the most cringeworthy thing you could imagine, he had the same cheesy grin as Troy Mc Lure on the Simpsons, and was clutching an acoustic guitar that big it'd make a Gretch Falcon look like a Ukelele, I expected Tucker Mc Elroy and the good old boys to come lurching around the corner in a Winnebago any second.. Priceless !!!

Looks like it's pretty damp up there above the Arctic circle. That's a pity! Although it may not get *sunny* it does at least look like it might be less wet the further north you go. Here's the current rain radar picture for where you're headed.

Thanks you guys. I won't be put off no matter what. Anyway I know it won't be wet @ the Nordkapp, someone told me it's 71 and a bit degrees and has been since records began! I will take more shots when the light comes good.
-
Hi Huzo, it's certainly a wet European summer. I'll be in or around Mandelo late august. Don't know if you will be that far south by then. Going well mate.

Ummm. Just a rough as guts guess, adding it up on my thumbs. I'm in Svolvaer right now, 2 days to the top then 4 back into Germany, then a couple into Italy makes around 8, so add a couple and I'd could be in Como around the 20th, so might set a date??? Wanna' come down to Sicily for a lap of Mt Etna?
-
Left Svolvaer and lunching at Londigen ( I think!). Nothing to photo but wet roads, but looks a bit promising ahead. Currently 4 deg on the passes, but at least the rain is close to freezing, so should bounce right off!

I don't doubt that your TomTom has sent you via Lødingen, but I think it's a detour if you're still heading north.
If TomTom also put you on the ferry from Lødingen to get you back on the E6, it would lose most of my respect.
I hope the weather improves!
You might as well know that I haven't even been to Trondheim on motorbike. One day though........ But I won't be in a hurry when riding up there!

No mate, I did the ferry on advice (I think!) honestly I'm starting to forget. Also I've been before on the bike, but forgot to take photo's so that's why I'm nicking up there before heading South. I don't plan much, just let it hit me in the face.

@Huzo, what are you doing for accommodation? Are you camping in that weather?

Yes mostly, but not tonight. Want an easy get away without the buggerising around in the morning. To be honest I'd say 'cos of the weather, rooming 20-30% of the time. That'll change when I get South more. It's just a chance to dry everything out each day in the room, with the heater set to HOT!!!

You probably know this, but many camp sites in Norway have huts to rent. Nothing luxurious, but the cost is often not much more than camping. It saves having to put a tent up (or even worse, pack if away!) in the rain. Look for a sign saying "Hytter"

Pretty much at Helsinki ready to cross into Estonia. Roadside reindeer VERY hard to see until they move!
Here's a little something, (not much I know), looking forward to Germany again and ummm, that other place, Ummm ...Oh yes, Italy !!

Hi Oz. It's a couple of thousand quiet k's from where I am to Salzburg, which is a destination on this trip. I'll probably be there in 3 days or so. Therefore could swing by your area if you're hanging around. I just checked, the actual location is Berchtesgaden, I think it's in Austria.

Not far from the border but Berchtesgaden is actually in Germany.

Great trip
Yeah Moz it is. Not much to get excited about over the last couple of days coming down through Eastern Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and all that..but you've gotta go through there to get to the good bit(s). Either Sweden or Finland. I just smashed the k's out, that's sorta ok too, feeling shagged at the end of the day on a bike is still a good way to go. It was a fair ride from Calais up to Nordkapp, but it was worth it, I forgot to take photo's last year, my mate in Australia said when I got home last year that I'd buggered things up and who knows when I'd ever get the chance again. Well I guess that kind of solved that one. Very much looking forward to seeing the Mosson Dam in Switzerland. (Google it!)
Surprising how the k's rack up though, just that little lot so far adds up to 7,000. I don't think there'll be much change out of 17,000 by the finish. :bike-037:

There's a kind of sadness that pervades everything around this part of Poland. The signs in and around the cities are cheap and garish. It seems stuck in the 50's with a static looking hopelessness that hangs in the air.
Young pouting girls, stand around with i phones the size of a phone book, and young (also some not so young) guys, hover around aimlessly with a sneering, accusing looking stare. It seems the normal thing for the guys, is to pump iron all day and end up with arms the size of my upper thigh, and get juiced up to the eyeballs on the gear, and set off the look with an ill fitting "EVERLAST" T-shirt.
A tip of the hat by most toward fashion conformity though, is the matching colour of fingertips with teeth.... Yellow
Here's a couple of shots of a new development going up in a nice part of town, and a guy who's been waiting since WW 2 for the Pub to open!

Splashing my way down the ??? Motorway/freeway/highway/interstate/.... TRACK!! I decided to have another go at getting breakfast on a Sunday morning in Poland. Stopped at a servo that looked like it was selling distilled cat piss for use in modern Italian motorbicycles.
I passed on the "offer" of petroleum but (for some reason) decided to ask for some breakfast, I figured that I could always stop and wrench my guys out in a roadside ditch, but if the Norge welded itself together I'd be rooted !
The recently released Polish penitentiary inmate said...."FOR SURE YOU WAANT BREAKFAST? I MAAKE YOU BREAKFAST !!!" SHOULD BE NO PRRROBLEM!" You bloody little beauty Sergei, thought I, as he butted out his used Marlboro and wiped his hands on his "apron". The last thing I wanted for breakfast was "BIG PRRROBLEMB" :food:
I gutsed the bowl of Syccyzzlyccxz soup and it was (as usual) bloody lovely, I wanted to apologise to the young lady waitress for making her put her mobile 'phone down to make my "cappuccino", but when I saw her chuck half a teaspoon of coffee in a plastic cup and added WATER!, I thought maybe she didn't find it too much trouble after all...
Still, there'll be something I'll miss when I leave Poland for Germany... I'm gunna spend the next few hours wondering what it is!

BTW. What's the deal with old songs in Poland et al. While scoffing my soup, I heard David Dundas' "When I wake up" and Katrina and the Waves' " Walking on Sunshine", dunno where she was walking, but it sure as shit wasn't bloody Poland! Copya'later...

And the intrepid foreign traveller on his way to Italy, looked to the Heavens and exclaimed !
Lord, if this truly is the wayeth to Mandello, the promised land
Why have you apparently forsaken me ?
Truly if this is the righteous path, send me a sign, like that one (pointing to a small roadside offering)
And the Lord looked down upon Huzo and said, (rather intimidatingly and unnecessarily volumously)
(Admittedly feeling a bit sorry for him)
"THAT'S NOT A SIGN" and reached into his white robe, "THAT'S A SIGN"

Jeez Ian, that's a good offer. Mine is the coarse threaded one so if that's the go, I'll ride over and get it. It'd be at least $6.00 to post it, I'll go broke! Leaving for the Emmosson Dam in Switzerland, then down to Mandello del Lario to get the oil changed (as one does!). Wonder if I can find a bike shop near the factory with a famous name? Thanx again, will talk at home (or before)

Don`t miss out on visiting Norge now you`re entering Italy ! Maybe spend a night at Hotel Norge ? Not the cheapest accommodation you can find, but if you tell the staff that you`ve been riding all the way from Nordkapp to Norge on your Norge - maybe you can charme them to give you a discount ?

Okay then. Now 10,000 k's rolled around so got the oil changed at Agostini's. As usual just walked in and at 4.45 in the afternoon the guy on the desk tells me that tomorrow is "for sure very full up", so being a Thursday thought , I'm gunna be "stuck" in Mandello.. Bastard !!!
But then as if on cue, he says "is no big problem", you give key to (mechanic) and he do now for you, bloody fantastic ! Funny how an Italian can say to you in Agostini's, is no problem" and it sounds different to a Lithuanian/ Latvian/ Estonian saying "OKAAAY, IS NO PRROBBLEMMMB".... Perception I guess.
So today might do a lap of the Lago, (Lake).

If you get a chance to ride Mandello, Lecco, Bellaggio and then to Onno and back, you'd be in for a treat!
Yeah mate I don't doubt that for one moment...
But just to lower the tone for a second, what's the deal with Italian riders, they CANNOT see someone in front and not pass, and although their skills seem good in the main, they are SUICIDAL ! Most times it works out but sheesh!
Reality is that I probably won't, and I tend to ride pretty conservatively being alone and in a foreign country. The consequences of a crash would be severe..

Driving is a "fluid" exercise...open spaces must be filled in naturally. Lanes painted on the ground are merely suggestions...
Forget the "rules" and drive with the flow and you'll feel liberated!

Hey Oz. I've given Sicily the arse and have crossed into France. Staying at Grenoble tonite with a pretty flexible schedule. Do you know where you'll be tomorrow (Sunday) night or Monday etc...?

The new Guzzi riders are a different bunch. I was leaving a town somewhere on my way to somewhere and stopped at some lights.
A young perfumed guy with immaculately clean shorts and white socks and runners, on a new looking V7 something or other pulled up next to me with a GIRL on the back wearing bugger all, he didn't put his feet down because her legs reached the road and still had 90 deg bend in them !!! (joke)
Anyway I digress, (understandably). I didn't expect any acknowledgement but it's odds on that with the plate and the general look and being a Guzzi, it would not have been a big surprise to get a nod in return.
The guy did not even look sideways from 2' away and the opposite light was still green as he whipped the clutch in, and within a microsecond, CRASHED the poor thing into gear. Realising he still had to wait some time he began to get a bit jumpy and started dragging the clutch to hold the bike on the hill, not content with that, as the latent aggression built and the need to appear dominant in front of his girl grew greater, he HELD ON SOME MORE FRONT BRAKE AND UPPED THE REVS WHILE LETTING OUT SOME CLUTCH!!! Eventually the torture session was over for the poor thing and the light went green. A gut full of revs and an uncoordinated release of the clutch, saw the whole she-bang launch off down the road with him casting furtive glances in the mirror to see if I was "in pursuit"....
Why the bloody hell didn't he just buy a damn R1 and order would have been restored. Why do they want these bikes if they're gunna indulge in drags at stop lights? Although, I gotta say, that considering it had his weight and the little "prize" on the back, it was none too tardy getting away...

Don't know where they all are ??? Bugger it....I'm Going to the Eiffel Tower...
-
Now, about this GPS thing..
Yesterday I took a call 400 k from Paris from a guy I'd met in Gothenburg on another Nordkapp trip on the Guzzi. We'd arranged that I would get on and just smash it out, but the ETA said it would be finishing in near dark. Leaving the last peage the traffic was doing 130 and (way) above. I set the GPS and must have taken 15 changes of direction at non descript and otherwise unremarkable intersections.
With impending lane changes being forecast 500 metres in advance it was a tense but relatively painless exercise, the Tom Tom took me 10 metres from the door.
Now, to sing the praises of a map is probably justifiable if you already have half an ounce of a clue where you're going, but in the situation I described??? Forget abaarrt it ! The roads sweep around and change direction subtly such that I defy ANYONE to find 146 Rue de la Saussiere in the inner city district of Billancourt in Paris at 1 hr after dark within 10 minutes of the ETA.
Here's some stuff. I know I've seen this thing but can't quite place it's name...

Went for a squiz at the Mohne Dam today. The repair isn't VISIBLE but isn't INVISIBLE either !
I'd reckon that if you had a photo of today's wall and drew a line where you reckon the repair was, then superimposed a shot from '42, you'd go damn close !

When I lived in Germany (Bielefeld) back in the 80s you could still see where the breech had been repaired.
30 plus years on I guess nature takes its course.
Nip over to Detmold if you get a moment and take a look at Hermannsdenkmal quite impressive but suffers from a bit of strafing IIRC
The railway viaduct at Bielefeld is also worth a look at as it was targeted at one point courtesy of a grand slam/tall boy bomb (can't remember which)
Cheerio and have fun

Hey Huzo, I'm about to leave Germany, back to Switzerland for a couple of days, a taste of southern France for future reference. Plan to be at Calais 12 September and cross back to England. If any of that fits with you plans our paths may cross yet. In France I'll be camping near Montignac at St Leon on the Vezere with some other bikers from 8-10 sept. Cheers

Left a friends place in Tilburg (Netherlands), I had every intention of moving down the coast towards Calais and onto a couple of other things.
However, a combination of atrocious weather ahead and a desire to cross channel and (maybe) get to Glasgow, saw me on the P&O ferry for Dover.
As if on cue, the clouds fell down around me and sat 40' above my head as I rolled off the ferry, so I knew I was back in the UK. I've got 13,000 up so far on this trip and the bike's been faultless. (Yeah I don't get it either)....
Anyway, there'll be something better ahead, but for now..
-
Yeah well...
I know it's not Mandello or Norway or Transfagarasan et al. but what do you look at in London.
Tomorrow off to Wales with Paul Harris and Serena Powis (Cosa Italiana). Been invited to a Guzzi do up there, so "whatd'ya gunna do? Forget abaarrt it!" I said yes.
Maybe something good up there, but it is decidedly not Italy...
Got you pencilled in Oz for 13th or so in Stoke.

Now come on guys, for heaven's sake...
How about 12 months to get our s**t together and meet UNDER THE CLOCK TOWER IN CALAIS AT MIDDAY, on a date to be fixed in 2018, as a primer for a trip back in 2021 for the 100th !
I resolve to have in excess of 200,000 on the Norge by then and (again), the first cappuccino is on me and I'll shout the Pizzas in Mandello.
For heaven's sake guys.... Come on !!!

In the unlikely case you should be passing through Bruges, Belgium, you are welcome. After confirmation in writing, weekdays only and between 9 -17 am/pm. We can discuss any fee later on  Just kiddin' of course, any time, any place. You name it ;-)
Just trawling through some stuff Frans.
I did go through Belgium but I lost track of who was where, but thank you indeed for your offer.
I stopped in a lovely place in a valley and was made welcome by some wonderful local guys. Back in London now after 16,000 k's and the Guzzi was perfect, I think I'll check the tappets when it gets home.
I want to re iterate that your offer was generous and I'll factor it in next year if still open.
Thanks again.

Well....
It's kinda' all over now. Back in London and have washed the bike and will be in the depot for return to Oz in a couple of days. The Norge did NOTHING wrong over 17,000 k's and I really do feel more enamoured than ever with it. Looking at it, you can't tell that it's even been, and when washing the dirt off it in it's filthy state, I looked at the muddy mess on the ground and wondered how the dirt from 6 weeks and 17,000 km can run together and look like there was never a distance between them...I think the whole world is made of the same stuff.
The rough description is London, Calais, Hirtshals, Kristiansand, Bodo, (Ferry) Lofoten, Nordkapp, Helsinki, Brno, Geneva, Mandello, Rome, Paris, Rotterdam, Calais, London. (and a bit in between)...
Oil changed at Agostini's and otherwise never saw the spanners...
Riding back from the car wash without the heavy panniers and top box, she felt like what you guys on 8 valvers
feel everyday, you'd reckon you had a rocket up your arse! But it's all relative I guess, I still wouldn't change it for anything.
I'll have it back by end of November and then ride it 'round in the Aussie summer before starting preps for 2018.. I'll have to get cracking 'cos before you know it, it'll be "Almost That Time Again", I'll save up for the cappuccinos that I'll doubtless have to buy for the assembled throng under the clock tower in Calais .
Just a look at how well (I think) she's stood up to Europe for the fourth time, and thanks to any or all that have taken an interest. :thumb:

Darn it - my subtle plan to lure you up to Lincolnshire and ply you with drinks, drugs and loose women while I got the wheels off it and onto my B11 has failed
Have a safe trip home
Tris
Remember I said I'd leave the wire ones at the local bike shop for you....Webb's or something I think it was...
I rang them the other day and they said someone left in a lorry with them.
Wasn't that you ???
'Chucked a set of old cast ones on for the trip home.My original back one is currently being used as a hose reel in Australia. (Actually, that's the truth !)
-
Aha I see the problem I went to Italia Moto (who know Guzzi speak) and "The Other Bike Shop" ( and yes that's its real name ) next door
-
I'll be back next year.
I'll drop them off then. Although this thread has probably more than run it's course, I thought I'd post this, it's the cliffs at Seaford on the English South Coast.

Good pics this time around Huzo! Now we could see all the fun places you've been!
Where's the one with you in front of the gate at Mandello?
Now you can string them all together into one video of a few minutes with some cool music and post it on Youtube for folks to enjoy!

Both 2015 and 2016 are on you tube.
They run for 3 hrs each but were taken off because of copyright infringements.
I'll get my young bloke to re doctor them and PM you when they're up.

Jeez !
Just when I thought there'd be nowhere else I could go where I could see lots of different nationalities and exotic machinery, up comes this joint !
Heathrow Terminal 3
Everyone speaks a different language and stares at their "devices" so they won't have to endure the discomfort of a conversation.. I dunno why they were worried, having a conversation with me doesn't actually involve having to say anything. Just listen... and listen... and...and...
Now seriously, thanks to all who offered accommodation, damn good advice around Norway, special thanks to Oz Rider in Stoke on Trent for holding me close at night when I thought we had an intruder! My right arm and hand went numb with you laying on it! (Although that wasn't a total disadvantage !)
I would have felt more comfortable sleeping on the right...
But mostly to the guys who showed genuine interest in my welfare and progress heading around the "loop". As I mentioned in one of the posts (I think), I sometimes cop a sort of benevolent criticism for too much freeway blasting and not enough "rose smelling". I guess I'm just enamoured with the connectivity that exists between the touch of throttle and the immediate bark that 1200 Italian cc's gives, as it throws you relentlessly toward the horizon and the next two wheeled experience.
The sights, sounds, fragrances, feelings and (occasionally) tastes, combine together to gel into a memory of 6 weeks and 17,000 km that become seamless as you re live them.
It's the only thing I ever want to do...
Thanks to all who took an interest and cared.
Huzo.

Ok...time for a 5 minute video when you get back of the highlights...looks like a fun time indeed!
All 17K on 1 set of tires or did you change somewhere along the way?

No mate, dead set truth, no BS I promise! A major amount was in the rain, but that sort of mileage seems fairly usual for those longish trips.
The cooler wet conditions, seem to extrapolate out to longer tyre life and a fairly low powered bike ridden gently.

A bit of a favourite is 2015 part two @ 58 mins in to the end...
Stelvio climb on the BMW GS1200
, 2016 on the Guzzi is not available on You Tube, it got pulled due to copyright infringements..

Anyway, here's the thing...
2018 Europe will (or can be), London to Calais then directly East to Greece and as far towards Turkey as my documentation will allow.
I have a friend who is doing an enduro in Albania and I'm going to arrange my arrival to meet up for a day or so, but other than that it's open.
Anyone who wants to rendezvous at one or more places for a bit of a jaunt would be welcome to come along.
It will be too soon for the V85, that is planned for Melbourne to London 2020 with Paul Brooking if all goes ahead, so next year is Norge (again).
Anyone keen...?

It's hard to keep some people down on the farm!!!

I just go to the overseas farm...!
-
Almost that time again...(again).
This time I'm thinking to go from France to Russia then over to Turkey and down to Sicily..
And a couple of bits in between..
Anyone interested..?
The €10 is still on the counter for the free cappucino's if you're under the Calais clock tower on the appointed date..!

Not at all mate..
AUD 3 and a bit K (3,200) give or take return.
Last year $3,080 if memory serves.
-
That's not bad if return. Does that include insurance or do you organize that separate?
-
Yes, that is return.
Best thing is phone Brent on 0429 494401.
He is Brent's bikes abroad, I used him last year. He collects you from Heathrow and takes you around to South London, makes you a coffee while you connect your battery, the off to Dover/Calais...!
That's not bad if return. Does that include insurance or do you organize that separate?
That includes transit insurance, but you get your own third party which is compulsory and comprehensive if you wish (optional)
I use Tourinsure, you can do the whole lot over the phone with an English speaking operator.
If you want to send your number, I'll tell you how to do it all.
Mine is 0437 070946
I'm sending my deposit for Russia 2019 tomorrow.
Easy as...!
-
Sorry for the root up on the above post, but you get the idea I'm sure..
-
Thanks just thinking at the moment.

Thanks just thinking at the moment.
Probably a good idea mate..
I try not to do much of that if at all possible.
How did your brother's ride go..?
I didn't see him.
PS.
I paid my deposit today for Russia 2019 on the Norge..

Yes went ok. It's a hard slog that race. Yes I need to wait till January before I can make any decisions on riding long distances. I'm taking to much medication at the moment.
