In a moment of weakness (side effect of the disease) I bought a 1977 Triumph Bonneville last fall that had been sitting for over 20 years. Most of the tinware was rusted and the exhausts were well beyond repair but the engine had only 5000 miles on it from new. Anyway, over the winter I replaced just about everything. I got a bit carried away considering the original intention was to work on the bike just to keep me busy over the winter and then sell it in the spring. So here is a picture of it finished.

Looks great! Ride for awhile before you sell it and HAVE FUN!! :thumb:  :1:

Right now I have 2 cars and 3 bikes insured so I can't afford to ride this one. To bad because it is really well sorted and feels good.

You did a great job on that Bill

Nice job!

Very pretty!
Its a shame we can never keep them all, I know the feeling all to well, too many vehicles insured and registered, I need to thin down the herd as well.

Very nice a 500?

It is a 750 5 speed. These big british bikes look tiny these days. I do have a 500 and it looks like a moped compared to todays bikes.

Nice work :thumb: I think I'd have a hard time parting with that one.

As a fellow Ontarioian I feel your pain with regard to multiple bike insurances. I wish we had a company that would offer a reasonable discount on multiple bikes, then maybe we could afford to take in a few more strays!!!
Cheers, Tim

Nice. I'm sure lots of guys will be interested in buying your bike.

I know guys who have gone so far as to change the serial numbers on their bikes so they can ride them all with one policy but it is a slippery slope if you are involved in a serious accident or if they are stolen.
I had a friend change plates a few years ago. He used to switch plates between a 441 BSA and a BSA 650 A10. We were crossing at the border one weekend when the Canadian Customs agent said to him, "That's a really nice A10". We were all shocked because most people around here don't even know what a BSA is. Luckily for my friend he waved us through without checking the ownerships.

Not sure how the economics of motorcycle insurance works, but it is cheaper here in Ohio to have 3 bikes covered then 2 by Allstate. All full coverage, I got a multi-bike discount that was more then what it cost to cover my old CB360. I wound up keeping it on my policy for 2 years after I sold it until I got my Moto Guzzi on the road. Other 2 bikes are newer sports bikes.
Add in my historical plate on the Moto Guzzi ($45 - never need renewed) and the third bike is a no brainer.

I have a clear record and get every conceivable discount but here in Ontario we are hard hit. I have my Moto Guzzi and my Triumph on vintage insurance which is quite limiting and I pay $800 for both. Many here would consider this a bargain. I have my 500 Honda on regular insurance for $500 because it has no limitations but it is only for liability.
A few years ago I bought a Le Mans 4. When I went to insure it it was over $1000 for liability alone because it was on the "Special List" along with GXRs and Ninjas. I landed up using the bike on the track for a few sessions and then selling it.

Who do you have your classic bikes with restrictions insured with?
Thanks, Tim

I go through a broker called Zehr who uses Aviva Insurance. They have been very good with me and allow you to make 4 equal payments without any extra charges if you do direct transfers.
