So I got another one. I had an 07 back 8 years ago or so, wife at the time hated it..She's gone..Guzzi is back. Found a nice black 07 on eBay in orlando..
So, what's a requirement on a low mileage example? Anything to look for?
My previous 07 was reliable as can be while I had it. Figured maybe time has let more things come too light.
I am looking for the Stucchi passenger handles it looks like they n o longer make :undecided:

1- The sidestand bolts must be pulled and retorqued using Loctite- they fall out.
2- The Grimeca clutch slave is fastened to the back of the trans using flange head hex bolts- yet the housing is countersunk for flathead screws. The wrong fasteners do not have enough bearing surface and so will back out. The slave housing will dump all its fluid, the follower rod seizes in the housing, and if you are unlucky, you may need to tear apart the trans. Do NOT ignore this- you'll regret it.
3- The plastic tank will swell with the use of ethanol fuel and the square bottom seizes in the frame- you need to pull it out while you still can. The "quick disconnect" fuel connector is a piece of crap and must be replaced (get a simple replacement at Autozone- anything is better than the factory fitting.
4- In addition to the above- I also had a weird, snatchy throttle that seemed to be intermittent and only off the line. Spit me off once. When it happened a second time I sold the bike.

Early ones had water sensitive speedo sensors, (It's on the bevelbox and is triggered by the disc bolts.) don't worry about it unless the dash blanks out in rain or after washing. It might still have the bad fuel line in the tank, worth checking and changing for fully submersible type just in case as it can leave you stranded.
Chances are that by now the swingarm bearings and shock linkage bearings will be rooted. Plan on inspecting/replacing ASAP.
If the throttle appears snatchy it's probably due to excess free play in the cables, check and adjust to minimum free play.
DO NOT try to alter the idle speed using the throttle stop screws and don't mess with the throttle linkage rod.
They DO NOT respond well to open air filters and loud pipes. It's not as negative as with the 8V's but they still prefer a pipe with a db killer and the stock paper air filter.

Good point about the swing arm bearings- I forgot to mention that. Not difficult to access as removal of the swingarm is straightforward. This will give you more access to deal with the clutch slave. While the swing arm is off- you can grease the driveshaft splines (which for some reason, it was common to find dry from the factory). As I recall, I had to drop the rear shock to get at the clutch slave (which gave me the opportunity to inspect the needle bearings in the shock linkage).

The '07 had a recall regarding the fuel pump, hose,or clamp inside the tank. That should have been taken care of by now. PM me for a copy if this PDF
The suspenders should be set up correctly- these were the days of cranked up comp damping. Adjust to your liking.
This era Griso had a trans rattle at idle that was under a tech note. Mine does this, I don't worry about it. PM me for a copy of this PDF.
My bike came with a mistral can. I adjusted the fueling with GuzziDiag to eliminate the decel pop. Works great.

When you have to rebuild the front forks get the right springs for your weight first. unless you weigh about 160 lbs
I changed my headlamp over to an LED bulb and I'm happy with it.
Depending on the mileage you might want to have the injectors cleaned. I did mine at 47,000 miles and it's made it made a big difference in how the Griso ran.

The headlight bezel screw on early models can fall out and the bucket will bounce on your fender or worse. I added safety wire from the bezel to the bucket. You can't order the screw either because it doesn't have a part #. I think later model hedlights have 2 screws. Enjoy! :bike-037:

Thank you for the replies fellas. This one only has 5100 miles. I will look into the issues and preventative maintenance you guys pointed out soon as I get it.
Glad to see these seem to hold up well overall, as all the local dealers in Michigan have disappeared and only one remains in the entire state
