As I've been contemplating purchasing a Breva 1100 or a Sport 1200 I had been following the threads of dashboard failures. As some of the dashes on other Guzzi models are quite handsome with the classic Vegilia tachs and speedos, I wondered if anyone had done a parts fiche swap to a simpler and (hopefully) more robust dash?

I don't think this would be at all easy. The Breva dash is connected by CAN bus to the ECU, and controls whether the bike can be started -- it stores the user pass code in a chip. It also passes barometric pressure readings to the ECU from a sensor, and Lord knows what else!
My guess is you would have to replace the ECU too, and essentially go over to the complete electrics from an earlier model.
It's too bad.
It's not too hard, I think, to disassemble the Breva dash and coat it with a "conformal coating" to protect the electronics. I've done that to my Griso's dash, and posted about it here a while back. The Breva's dash is a close cousin with most or all of the same electronics components, but different gauges.

Moto I don't see a lot of posts about the dash off the 750 Breva do you know if it has all the same problems?

I don't know if the Breva 750's have the same problem or not. Wouldn't the V7 (retro) dash pictured have the same Canbus as the Breva or Sport 12?
The potential problem with electronic gauges, even if they could be plugged in to the wiring harness, is that the millivolts from the various senders could be interpreted differently from model to model. Probably a bad idea on my part, but the V7 retro gauge cluster looks much classier than the stock Breva 1100 and could conceivably be more reliable.

Buy one for a bicycle unless you are a ecu/lektronic wizard, get a used one. I haven't seen anyone do what you are asking. This is the stuff I think of before I buy a bike.
One reason I retired, I don't want to be a dash mechanic Just cause everyone needs gadgets.

No, I don't believe it shares components. It looks like this:

I believe the 750 Breva is electrically similar to a Nevada(!), but I could be wrong; I've never looked into it. If I'm right about that, the 750 could be a good choice for anyone who is making the 1100's dash a deal breaker. Kev M had a 750 Breva, I think. Maybe he has something to add. A lot of good things have been said about the 750 on this site.

Depending on what you expect out of a bike, the baby B is a solid possibility. I also have a Honda NC 700X (great bike) that has about the same output as the Breva. Completely different riding experience. The Breva "feels faster" and more like the bikes I grew up on. I find myself on the Breva more than the NC or Jackal lately.

Ooops missed this thread first time through.
Nope the B7 and V7 dashes are completely different from the CANbus B11/B12/N12 setup (as are just about everything else on the smallblocks vs. the big block CARCs - different motor, frame, EFI system etc.).
Interestingly enough I believe the V7 dashes are from the same manufacturer as the older Monster dashes.
Either way there's NO interlock of functions the ECM operation and dash communications on the smallblocks (at least through V7II).
