Being a recent owner of a new 2016 V7ii Special I'm interested to know what parts and accessories people changed, if anything, on their V7 since owning it.
Before buying I was thinking over time it would be muffler, handlebars and maybe that rear mudguard. Suspension was a ride it and see decision.
So now after only ~1700km I'm looking at things a little differently. The original mirrors are barely useful so I'd like to know what others have used and recommend. They're simply too narrow or short to see effectively beyond my arms. A handlebar change might improve this.
The original handlebars are okay and I guess if the bike is dropped there is less risk of tank damage but I like a lower position for comfort and wind resistance at speed. Going for clip ons is appealing for both looks and function but that might require rearset footpegs which don't seem to come cheap. The Agostini dragsport bars seem like a good compromise between the two. http://motociclo.com.au/products/bikes-related-items/bike-accessories/moto-guzzi/v7-series/agostini-handlears-dragsport-blac
And after multiple youtube clips of muffler comparisons I was sure I'd buy some aftermarket mufflers. But now the original muffler exhaust note is growing on me even though I have some Staintunes to fit. Perhaps the original mufflers need time to mellow or something? Having already bought the Staintunes I guess I'll try those out but if too loud I think I could happily go back to the standard ones. Unless the claimed power increase from the Staintune is worthwhile.
The V7 is a fun bike worthy of the praise it gets so I'd love to hear what you did/didn't do to it.
Cheers,
MotoBug

V7 Stone in white from 2013 (European counting).
1) the higher Comfort Gel seat. It is shorter, looks better. But much more important: I am seated perhaps 1,5 cm higher. And as the seat is much harder the control of the bike is better. I feel more connected to the Guzzi.
2) transparent windshield (original Guzzi). Makes the riding experience better in any conditions.
3) original Guzzi luggage rack. I need it. And in my eyes a luggage rack is a crucial part of the look of a motorcycle .
4) the original heat shield at the mufflers are swapped against narrower ones from Guzzi Garage. Looks nice.
5) Dunlop Arrowmax Streetsmart. Makes the bike rideable even when it´s cold and wet. And makes the rear brake usable.
Ah yes, the original mufflers. I like the sound. And they are from LaFranconi. How could I ever swap them?

2014 Stone 5 speed
Shocks - Ikon, so I didn't get bucked off every time I ran over a leaf, almost
Dart Marlin screen - I think it adds a bit more comfort
H&B rack for carrying stuff, with a top box on occasion when the need outweighs the ugliness
I think that's about it - not unhappy with the Pirellis even though it's winter
To do perhaps - improve front suspension and brakes, maybe taller seat or lower pegs. No urgency on these though.
-
I changed the shocks and forks straight away. Much better for ME.
Agostini pipes cause the sound correct to my ears with a remap to match.
SW-Motec mirror extenders solves that problem.
And, I built my seat up 2 1/2 inches for a little leg room.
I knew I'd do this prior to purchase. I made the bike what I wanted and no regrets at all. Love the little bugger to death.

V7II Stone, Black. For reasons that don't need explaining:
Agostini crash bar
MG touring windscreen
Standard height MG gel saddle
Matris piggyback shocks
Matris full fork replacement kit
Stelvio/Norge/Griso mirrors
Speed Bleeders
Hepco & Becker side and top luggage racks with Junior hard cases
Koso Apollo heated grips
SW-Motech 25-mm handlebar risers
USB power outlet and iPhone mount for handlebar
Flash2Pass garage door opener transmitter
Lastly, under the category of personal tics, I put plastic or rubber caps in the open gaping holes at the rear ends of the lower frame tubes, and also in the holes of the passenger foot peg mounts.

2013 Stone:
* GuzziPower (Ed Millich) Sump Spacer (for more oil capacity)
* Over-racing frame sliders
* HB racks for side and topcase (powdercoated black before HB offered them that way)
* Dart Marlin - Now an Emgo Viper Fairing (at least I think that's what it is called, I got used)
* OEM Cafe take-off seat - got that Corbin afterall
* YSS Shocks
* Centerstand and Euro sidestand
* Black aluminum injector covers
* OEM mirrors (Guzzi 1200 sport/Aprilia/other brands)
I wouldn't mind figuring out a more robust headlight bucket, it's a little rattly/tinny.
- mostly solved with some silicone
I also would like black handlebars, but the positioning is right so I feel stupid changing them. (EDIT - still haven't bothered)
No need to change exhaust, and though the forks are rather basic they do they job.
I could see springing for a Corbin, but I've got two other bikes that are better for distance, do I dunno. I no longer have better bikes for distance lol.
I should probably upgrade the tail light someday, but I'm not in a rush obviously (going on 5 years). - Added Plug-n-Play LED bulb replacement.
Still love it. <------ THIS in spades.
-
Kev M, you forgot to include your original patented smiley face on the canister.
Also, why not powder coat the handlebar instead of replacing it?
-
I went to Norman Hyde M bars and interestingly, the stock mirrors became perfectly useable.
Also:
-Dart flyscreen
- Agostini slipons
- Hepco and Becker luggage rack and side case racks
Those few changes made it a great little all-around bike.
-
OOOPS, forgot one of the most important mods - GuzziPower Sump Spacer for more oil capacity.
The late-model smallblocks seem to have proven they no longer NEED it, but hell it makes me feel warm and fuzzy to run a higher capacity anyway!
Kev M, you forgot to include your original patented smiley face on the canister.
Also, why not powder coat the handlebar instead of replacing it?
Ah, but it wasn't MY original - it was given to me by someone on this board who did it first!
And on the powercoating, I MIGHT do that. But:
1. It tends to be expensive enough around here that for a few more bucks I can probably just buy new ones that are already black.
2. I don't like taking it off the road long enough to do that, I'd rather remove and install same day. Though I COULD always do it in winter time.
Truthfully, I was distracted putting every extra penny towards saving for a new bike (that I bought last month, just not the one I was originally planning on buying lol) so now I might start to think about stuff like that again.
-
2013 stone:
Replaced mirrors with Aprilia tuono mirrors... 50 bucks, they look great and provide great visibility.
Dart Marlin windscreen, about 150 dollars, easy install and quick shipping. 80mph feels like 60 on the freeway. Much more comfortable at hwy speeds.
Next will be shocks or seat.

Cha-cha-cha changes; 2013 V7 Special,
The principle reason for upgrading as much as I did was to create the best ergonomics I could manage while retaining a functional café-commuter profile.
Most pieces are of a practical nature while contributing to ‘the look’.
Luggage/brief case is a set of 30 liter Hepco Becker Juniors. The C-bow frame hadn’t arrived on the market in Canada or I’d have gone that route simply because the bag offerings are aesthetically more pleasing. The Junior’s are really well suited to long range touring and grocery shopping.
Wind screen is a Valoplini Sport Fairing from Harper’s. The LeMan’s-like look suits the bike’s profile and works very well for my 5’7” frame.
Suspension upgrades are a necessary upgrade in my opinion. Mupo: front and back. Bought it too quickly from Todd before I had done enough research. It works very well but I think I could have done better.
Handle Bars: Brevettato adjustable bars. These are expensive but provide nearly absolute control over the ergonomics. As it turns out, they are good future proofing: I contracted rheumatoid arthritis and had to change angles for my wrists: an Allen key, some test positioning and a bit of Loctite…. new set-up.
Foot controls: Sato rear-sets. A bit extravagant (see a theme?) but again has a lot of adjustability with respect to ergonomics for someone who prefers their feet under rather than in front of them.
Exhaust is a set of Mistral short cans with DB-killers. I like the tone without it being obnoxiously loud… and the look. I haven’t got around to buying Beetle’s ECU map (now that it is available) but will do so this winter in the down time. Until then I’ll live with a bit of burble on the deceleration.
Mirrors are bar-end from Halcyon (GB). Originally I bought the rectangular version but replaced those with round heads that really compliment the instrument dials. If you ride in traffic; stick to the rectangular heads because the coverage is much better. (Heavy traffic where I live is an oxymoron)
Horns were replaced with Hella Sharptone. Currently powered through the existing wiring harness therefore some loss of decibels but still an improvement over the meep-meep farce the bike comes with. The frame of the horns needs to be powder coated so they don’t stand out like a sore thumb. (ugly). I tried to hide them behind the front tire on the bracket near the rectifier but one horn touched the brake line.
Seat: an aftermarket solo seat from AF1. Aside from matching the ‘café’ look it is more comfortable than the stock plank of foam. There are a host of reasonably priced offerings in the aftermarket these days. The one I own has 25k km on it and is just getting more comfortable. A gel-seat could have saved me 20k km…. ☺
Control levers are imitation Pazzo adjustable clutch and brake. I bought a long set and a short set to see which I preferred. Combined cost was half of the real thing. Since both manufacturers use computer drive milling of billet aluminum I only feel somewhat bad for not supporting a fellow countryman. Preferences are; the clutch lever long and the brake lever short but have left them both short for the time being.
Bling… just because: aluminum generator cover, greyed signal lens, pillion pegs to match rear-sets, RAM ball for GPS grip, and a leather tank strap.
-
I added CRG Bar end mirrors and boy do I like them. They fold for parking and storage, the image and visibility is perfect.
I also added the smaller rack intended for the scrambler. I think it looks nice and is fine for a small tail bag. I also replaced the rear shocks. I went with K-tech shock from Guzzitech and am pleased with them. HUGE improvement in ride quality. Also a dart flyscreen, and lastly a beetle map. Another huge improvement IMO.

Ergos: Small windshield, lowered pegs, 1" bar risers, sheepskin on seat, Aprilia Mana mirrors
Suspension: Andreani fully adjustable forks, Racetech rear shocks
Wheels: Front hub laced to a 2.5" x 19" rim & converted to tubeless by Woody's Wheel Works. Rear rim converted to tubeless by me. Wanted more dual-sport tire choices, the extra inch of wheel diameter helps with the already limited front fork travel/suspension, at least in theory. Also tubeless flat repairs are much easier than tubed.
Luggage: Fabricated a setup to mount a pair of medium Tusk aluminum panniers. Didn't like the current offerings and where they situate the luggage. Along those lines I have a complete set of HB pannier racks and 30L junior sidecases I'd like to part with.
Body: Polished aluminum fenders, ostensibly for easier wheel removal but they also look pretty sweet.
Protection (bike): Crash bars, hand guards, fork boots
Other: Centerstand - makes some maintenance tasks easier, also improves parking efficiency in my crowded garage.
Copper Canyon, Mexico area:

-
Forgot to mention fork gaiters and headlight grill to mitigate road gravel damage.
And the centerstand ... I kept the original sidestand which requires lowering it before using the centerstand or not use it. Not sure if the extra $$ for the Euro sidestand is functional enough to be warranted but the centerstand is a must on the same level as the suspension upgrade.

Cha-cha-cha changes; 2013 V7 Special,
The principle reason for upgrading as much as I did was to create the best ergonomics I could manage while retaining a functional caf-commuter profile.
Most pieces are of a practical nature while contributing to the look.
I see a similarity here.
I LIKE to make a bike look good, but I have a hard time justifying modifications that are JUST for looks.
But if I can ALSO improve the function at the same time, then I usually have no (or much less of a) problem spending some dosh.
As such I'm also an opportunist... I didn't "NEED" new rear shocks, but an opportunity arose for some very lightly used YSS take-offs from another owner who sold his bike quickly combined with a deal on an OEM Cafe seat and I couldn't say no to the package, even if I might not have bought either by themselves.
Or another example, if you ever wanted to try a different solution for your forks, I might consider buying the old set-up from you.
I did the same thing with the Sportster, I wanted dual discs and more front end travel, but waited until I friend who'd bought a 1200R wanted to upgrade to a USD/Brembo set-up and then bought the forks and brakes from him as a complete set.
-
2016 V7ii Special:
CRG Bar ends
Hagon Rear Shocks
Racetech front springs, gold valve emulator
Hindle slip ons + ECU re-flash
Dart Marlin windscreen
LSL Rear sets - one of the cheaper options, but had to modify them to fit. Like them much better than the agricultural OEMs.
Rear Moto Guzzi rack
Removed turn signal spacers, clear lenses and amber bulbs (AF1).
I plan to do the black LSL Speedbar over the winter for $75.

2013 V7 Special.
Bought it used.
Already had Hepco bags on it.
I put a cheap spitfire windscreen on.
Other then that she is bone stock.

I've added nothing yet but a Dart Marlin. In the offing are luggage (still looking, but leaning to Hepco & Becker), suspension, and a more comfortable perch.

2016 V7 II Stone.
Agostini crash bars
Dart Marlin flyscreen
Lower comfort gel seat
Hepco & Becker center stand
Pazzo adjustable levers
OEM mirrors (Stelvio, Norge, Griso)
I will be adding the Hepco & Becker C-Bow setup very soon
-
Damn. You're all making me miss my V7-II Stone.
Suspension, suspension, suspension!!
Then a Dart Screen.
And H&B rear rack & C-Bow.
And Agostini crash bars.
And a GuzziPower sump extender.
And a Beetle Map
And a centre stand installed just before the roo took me & the bike out.
Sigh.
I'd better go for a ride on the Griso to forget.... :bike-037:

2010 V7 Classic - came with centre stand, rack & windscreen - special offer from the factory.
Windscreen later removed - it put the wind straight to the visor.
Cafe seat - more comfortable, & looks better.
Staintune mufflers -"the best thing you can do for your Classic".
DTF head protectors from Finebau Forge.
V7R rocker cover - look pretty.
Sidestand nut & bolt mod - easier for foot to find the stand.
MG tankbag & bra - very handy.
GoCruise throttle lock - cheap, handy, a marvel of simple design.
Spotlights - first cheap incandescent, later Denali D2 LEDs.
Pannier racks - custom made by a mate from stainless rod.
Heated grips - wrap arounds - removable at will.
GAZI rear shocks - much better.
Lithium battery - SSB Powersports - better starting - high CCA - fast idle no longer used.
Power take-off from Powerlet - very useful.
Power connections for Powerlet heated glove & jacket liners - best thing since sliced bread in winter.
Powerlet Termin8 - to minimise accessory wires to the battery & because I had trouble fitting a fuseblock.
Rear sets (V7R OEM) - needed once I removed the windscreen.
Tyrechecker valve caps - can checks tyre pressures at a glance.
RAM ball mounted beside dash - to add the phone holder to use as a GPS.
Laverda-style multi-adjustable handlebars - to emulate the riding position of the 1100 Sport which I find most comfortable for long trips.
Mirrors - tried extensions (not satisfactory) then went to CRG bar end mirrors for a few years, have ended up with mirrors mounted in the lever posts - a Napoleon Baren in the left (cheaper) & a Rizoma in the right (expensive) - found I couldn't adjust well to the CRGs convex lens - traffic was much closer than it seemed.
Agostini stainless steel headers - the original headers were by now (163,000 km) badly corroded.
Agostini mufflers - because the Staintunes wouldn't fit on the new headers.
21L steel fuel tank - spoilt by the V7 Special - a 450km range is much more convenient than 300.
V7R sidecovers - match the new tank & I can see the rear brake reservoir.
Pazzo-style levers - cheaper & better made than stock.
This is what it looks like now.

Got my bike as an insurance recovery vehicle. Burnt to a crisp in a house fire and restored to what you see above.
- new fairing because old one melted
- new gauge cluster because old one melted
- seat recovered because old one burnt to a crisp
- new foot controls because old ones stolen at the recovery centre
- fork cartridges because OEM front suspension is too harsh for my weight/size
- new rear shocks for the same reason
- added PowerCommander-V because popping on decel. Wish I had gone with Guzzitech reflash but wasn't an option at the time.
-
Stunning rescue. Very well done.

2013 V7 Racer:
Agostini Headers & Arrow Exhaust (ceramic coated)
Rizoma bar-end mirrors
2-up seat (I swap between the solo and 2 up frequently)
Viper fairing (I also swap this with the standard fly screen or no screen)
Swiss Army surplus bags (I also swap these out)
Upgraded rear BiTubos with Race Tech weight rated springs
Race Tech weight rated springs in front
Matris Pre-load adjusters up front
Metal fuel filter
Upgraded plug caps and plugs
Added USB charger
RAM smartphone mount
Some decals (yes the original EVAP can smiley face)
can't forget the red adonized valve caps...
lets' see what else...
upgraded Voltage regulator
I think that about covers it. As you can tell I like to switch out seats, fairings, bags sometimes out of necessity other times just to change the look of the bike.

Sorry MIA and realised I didn't have notifications on. Thanks for the input all. I love seeing the photos.
What a diverse range of preferences. It's great! Definitely useful to myself and other V7 owners looking for solutions. Or stuff to fill that hollow void of yearning you never knew you had.
I've got the Staintune mufflers and am really keen to fit them but I think I'll wait a bit longer and get to know the bike further in it's stock standard form. I do love the sound the Staintunes make when I heard them but running lean might be an issue. If too loud I can swap back to originals.
Suspension is definitely firm and unforgiving at times. I'll put that down on the list for future consideration. I see USB plugs and RAM phone holders mentioned by a few people. Where did you take the power from to get a usb port near the handlebars? Is there a particular version of holder that best suits the V7?
Oh yeah I forgot the crashbars. Seems like a worthwhile investment or do I rely on insurance covering any damage?
In stock form...

I didn't mention my USB port solution, but I have a simple one. I installed a battery tender and ran the cable under the tank to near the steering head. It just dangles out a bit down there, very unobtrusive. The battery tender folks make a tender to USB adapter, just about an inch long that plugs right on the end of the cable. When I need a USB I just bring the adapter along, which I switch between my 2 bikes.
The crash bars are pretty cheap and look very nice IMO. The come in both black and chrome. I would definitely recommend them.
-
Thanks Alan. I'll look into it. I also read somewhere that there is a spare input on a connector under the seat which I think said that you can run a usb port from directly. Something to do with the bluetooth accessory MG offer.
Which crash bars did you buy?
-
And there's another one up at the top - on my V7S it's to the left of the ignition under the panel - it has a green plug for a GPS - you can either find a female plug to find (from a Mercedes dealer, I'm told) or cut the plug off & wire in a more useful connector. Check the Powerlet catalogue for ideas. If you ride with tankbags you can electrify that with a plug (SAE both ends).
The recommended crash bars are those from Agostini - worked well enough for Clancy when he hit that roo.
I'll send you photos of where I mount the RAM ball on the V7's. Unobtrusive & handy.

Some stuff I've done.
Gazi rear shocks
RaceTec front shock emulators
1" lower foot pegs
MG Breva touring windscreen with MRA X-Screen attached.
MG 1200 Sport mirrors (you'll notice I have some bar end mirrors in this picture, they were removed after this test ride)
Center stand and Euro side stand
GuzziTech 2:2 stainless steel exhaust
Barkbuster hand guards
Headlight screen
HB side and rear luggage racks
HB topcase that I don't use for longer trips anymore as I find it too heavy and upsets the bikes balance making the front too light
MG tankbag
Engine crash bars that I can't remember who makes them
FZ-1 Fuzeblock
Heated grips
Garmin 660 GPS
Bike is wearing Kenda K761 tires in this picture but has Speed Demons on it currently, the Kenda's are ok but make a bit of noise on the road
Bill Meyer saddle
Oil dipstick with temp gauge off of ebay, never loosens up and knurled top makes it easier to remove without tools unlike the stock one
Have sump spacer from guzzitech but I removed it for more ground clearance when riding over topes in Mexico
Connections for heated jacket and battery charger
MAS engineering injection covers
Things I should do
Better horn
ride more..
{edit} How could I forget. Changed out bad R/R with Mosfet style. R/R Shindengen FH020AA from ROADSTERCYCLE.COM

It's held down with a bit of velcro. Still need to splice out those inline fuses I see, I forgot about that.
-
I have one, got it some years ago from the US, and so it does fit under the seat, but at the expense of the tool space it looks like. I was toying with the idea of a removable aluminium shelf above the battery (the air filter on the 1TB) - there is the room. And now Denali has a fuse block that's a little thinner (1 inch), but still only 30W total draw. Normally no a problem, but adding headlight relays might challenge it. (As your eyes get older, you want every lumen you can get).
Thanks,
Mal

Yep, that's the sort of thing I had in mind, and the location, too, 'tho not nearly as neat & professional as that excellent piece of work. I have a bit of metal set aside - now to play around with it.
-
Yeah that looks great but I'm pushing my luck with velco and I'd probably lose a finger or two trying to make something like that piece of art. Oh and that looks different than my 2013 1TB under the seat, where is the air cleaner as mine would be right where you placed your bracket.
-
And to get the thread back on track, this is my other V7 - a 2014 Special
(http://thumb.ibb.co/bsxAk5/image.jpg) (http://ibb.co/bsxAk5)
i want to upload my photo (http://imgbb.com/)
When I bought it, the bike was a year old with 4,400 km & a brand new rear tyre, plus the mods:-
Mistral high pipes, with the Cafe Classic pillion hangers to suit.
Tarozzi clip ons
Racer rear sets
Cafe seat
Luggage rack
Centre stand
Fly screen, with custom stripes
Bagster tank bra, customised with stripes to match the tank underneath
Ikon rear shocks
Racetech fork springs (gold valve emulators supplied, not installed)
CRG style bar end mirrors
Reflective rim tape in matching colour
MG rack bag - small but occasionally useful
So with all that, it was pretty much a steal
Since then, I have added:-
Denali D2 spotlights
SSB Powersports lithium battery
Changed out the bar end mirrors for a Rizoma Radial Sport on the RHS mirror mount, and a Napoleon bar end mirror on the LHS
Powerlet rear set kit for a BMW power socket at the top of the pillion peg hanger
Powerlet SAE ended cable at the headstock - fits into the adapter to electrify the Bagster tank bag
Powerlet co-ax for the heated liners
Powerlet Terminal-8 for power distribution
A RAM ball next to the dash to take the phone mount, mainly for it's GPS
Tyrechecker valve covers
GoCruise throttle lock
NGK XD05F spark plug caps (for a better connection) & matching CR9EK plugs
Staintune muffler clamps - better quality & 5mm allen socket heads
Replaced the sidecover grommets with firmer ones
Pazzo-style lever set in grey with orange highlights - prettier & better made than stock
There's only 87,000 km on this one so far, and other than a collapsed front wheel bearing, & some rough running once, caused by oil & dirt in the airbox & throttle bodies, and a broken shift lever, probably due to my cousin's heavy foot, it has been trouble free.
-
87k? That's good going. I need to source one of those cheap throttle controls. Wrist isn't happy on the longer rides.
My bike is still stock. I can't decide whether or not to put those Staintune pipes on. The stock pipes sound ok most of the time and sound good when powering on at speed but I know the Staintunes sound great too. I'm worrying whether or not swapping from stock would introduce fueling glitches on an already smooth running motor.

Andrew,
I get the Go Cruise throttle lock from OneUp Mortorcycle Products (oneup.com.au) in Geelong. The cheapest one is the best - last year $31 plus postage.
Swap the mufflers over and see how it runs. If not happy, change them back. No foul. It's only the hanger bolts & the clamps, 10-15 minute job.
Pomti,
Stunning version of a very pretty Racer.

No, the crash bars are Agostini.
-
Were they specifically for the V7II or did you have to buy and extra attachment? I've seen these available in Australia but they need an extra part to fit the V7II.

WTF? $47.99 for an adapter kit?
The V7 has a bar with two holes welded to the frame above the regulator; many of the engine guards (crash bars) bolt to the plate.
The V7II does not have this bar. The guards I got came from Harpers. They are the same as the V7 guards, but the kit includes a bar with two tapped holes and two longer bolts. The bar fits behind the frame tubes and does the same job that the welded bar did on the V7.
I do not know the design of the Agostini guards. There are other options. I don't like the design of the HepcoBecker - they mount to the engine mounting bolt that goes thru the lower part of the engine block.
PS: I just looked at Tasdisr photos. He said they are Agostinis; they look just like mine. $5 to $10 worth of hardware for V7II adapter.

As far as I know they were. The dealer installed them before I got the bike and did not say that they needed an adapter of any kind. I know they were under $200. On af1 racing site they do not mention any adapter.

Going by the AF1 link there is a V7II specific version. Difference is it is slightly wider to give better protection. Perhaps the tilting forward of the engine in the II meant it was fractionally wider.
Shame about the price. $196US and would cost $75 to send here. Aus dollar is close to 25% less than the USD so works out close to $350AUD.

Did you check Agostini's web site? Not sure how the currency exchange or shipping would work.

Just an fyi, your rear brake fluid looks black, my wifes had turned that colour as well, rather quickly if i recall, yet my stelvio fluid is clear, maybe its the hose they use on the v7's?
still going through the thread so apologies if noticed already.

2013 V7S.
Just today, added the guzzitech full stainless exhaust. Reflashed ECU. Had the Seat Guy build my seat. Ikon rear shocks, Mupo front fork kit. HB mounts and bags, also have smaller bags. Little fairing from my 2003 Ti. Bar end mirrors, heated grips. Removed the silly chrome covers under the gas tank. Aluminum spoked wheels, sealed up for tubeless tires.

What and why:
Luggage, 'cause I like to take trips. Centerstand, because it makes it much easier to maintain the bike. Replacement seat now good for many miles, OEM hurt at 100 miles.

-
I changed the shocks and forks straight away.
Hi - would you mind posting link to the SW-Motec extenders you bought? I can't spot which ones would be compatible with my V7 Stornello. Thanks
-
Panniers. Initially I didn't like the look of them but the more I see them and the more I ride my bike the more I'm becomoing a convert.

I have the orange on black 2014 V7S, and quickly looked into many of the farkles described here to make it a better tourer, or even a 100 miler two-up. Saw how expensive it got how fast and noticed a deal on a (slightly) used 2013 Stelvio with many of the comforts I was looking for...so that was my big mod to the V7! Have spent all discretionary dollars on the Stelvio, but now a couple years in I can see the future: won't be horsing that Stelvio around when I'm 65 years old, so broke down and put a Puig windshield on the V7...red suspenders prolly the next expenditure! Love them both.

They're just such totally different things, v like my Sporty and my Road King, that I find it silly to even bring it into the same conversation.
That's not taking anything away from a Stelvio or CARC anything, but someone who wants one doesn't necessarily want the other.
And truthfully I haven't spent more on accessorizing my V7 than I have any other bikes in my life.
Hell my B11 got a windshield, bags, luggage rack, seat, topcase, crossover pipe, painted sponsoons, heated grips, and crash bars.... That's a set of shocks shy of what I added to the V7.
Anyway if we were just making an intellectual argument of dollars, you could buy a hell of a lot of touring and other accessories for a V7 for a lot less than a Stelvio. Shit you could probably still have enough left for a full bike from JAPanInc., not that I'd make that choice.
-
Intellectually, when it starts at $1200 to put HB racks and cases on a brand new $8000 bike (and that is just the start of the mods for the V7), I made the choice to put it toward another bike already fitted with many of the mods I was interested in. Didn't say it was the same bike; said it was my personal decision. Silly? I've been called worse

No insult intended, if you've ever followed my posts you know I'm no stranger to silly.
I guess I was just reacting to the portions of your post that seem to be comparing a Stelvio to a V7 as somehow an answer to the original question of the thread (which was basically how did you accessorize your V7).
I mean it's one thing to say something like "I was going to rig it for touring but decided to go another direction and use a different bike for that" but to me it strikes me as funny to essentially say that I decided it was too expensive to rig for touring so I bought a whole different bike because they're different things at that point no matter how we slice and dice it.
But that said if money is supposed to be the "justification" I find it hard to believe it was "cheaper" to buy a used bike than to buy some luggage. But even if we accept that claim you still have apples and oranges.
And you mention other changes you would have made to the V7 but wouldn't those changes have enhanced the ownership experience of the V7 regardless of whether you had a Stelvio for touring also?
I guess I'm just saying it was a bit off topic at that point (but hey I do that too).

Kev--whatev. How many people here stopped with bags? Seat, suspension, exhaust, windshield, crash bars, etc etc etc. I am sure a number of the very excellent mods to the base v7's described herein have cost as much as the bike. My intent was to describe where I went with it, not to denigrate the bike. "Love them both" was my sign off. And still do, and I admit my future plans are probably going to involve completely kitting out my V7. And likely doubling my purchase price, or close enough that I won't be able to afford a Japanese make after all. I can does mathuhmatics too...

I've kept a spreadsheet on the accessories I add to bikes in the past decade and a half or so. And it generally agrees with what I recall from the decade or so before that. I generally spend a couple of thousand on a bike in terms of things like windshield, seat, bags, crash bars etc. That includes the CARC I owned, and the Oilhead (bikes you could have argued should have been more uh well prepared for the road).
*Shrugs*
Truthfully the only one I ever got close to doubling the price on was the Jackal, but in it's defense it started exceptionally cheap and I wound up modifying it heavily both mechanically and cosmetically.

Wow a 2 into one exhaust. Just today I fitted the Staintune mufflers I bought months ago. Early days but I'm not sure I want such an aggressive sound. First impressions in this thread http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=91923.0

dvb - that SC-Projects exhaust system? Can you tell us more about it - how did the fitting go? Deat ails requested. How does it perform? Did the ECU adjust? Or did you have it re-mapped? Do the stainless headers discolour quickly (it looks like it) or did you do any pre-running treatment?
Mal

He lists a "GT-RX ECU REFLASH" which I believe means basically a Rexxer sold by Guzzitech with whatever mapping Todd has developed.
-

Yes, I figured a re-map would be wise, especially if going on the MUI G3 bike, but that only means increased familiarity with Guzzidiag (always a good thing) & more quality time with Mark, plus some more long rides to Wagga. And I have family there too.
-
Malik- The SC Project fitted up fine, if I didn't have the crash bars it would have been a 1 beer job, but manipulating it around the bars and lining stuff up and pulling exhaust springs with just one pair of hands turned it into a 2 beer job.
Performance is probably a wash, prevailing thought on most Harley forums say that a 2-1 is the ideal setup for performance but who knows. I mean you lose a good chunk of mass and maybe you get some lowered mass centralization but I'm not fooling myself into thinking I got any extra measurable ponies. It does FEEL a bit more quick and nimble to me though.
As far as fueling went I come from the KTM school of "adaptive fueling" so I kept the baffles and stock filter in and it ran fine (fine meaning no worse than stock) without a reflash, but I decided to throw a BMC filter in there too so I contacted Guzzitech to write me a map for my setup, one map w/ baffles and another w/o baffles. The reflash worked great, especially in my Brooklyn Queens Expressway commute where low speed/throttle is the name of the game if I'm not splitting, during bad traffic I can drop the revs on my bike down to below 1000 rpms before it starts trying to buck me off whereas before on my totally stock bike if I went under 3000 rpms the bike would buck and jerk if I wasn't modulating my clutch to death. All through the revs it feels so much smoother and punchier but peak power/top speed hasn't changed much for me.
The stainless steel did discolor pretty quick but alot of the discoloration now is just baked on road grime, the header that goes across the oil sump gets hit with alot of crud that gets kicked up by the front tire and whenever I bother to really clean the pipes the color lightens up quite a bit.
Pre-running treatment, I let all my sealants set up for 24 hours, wiped the exhaust down with WD-40 then I idled the bike for 15 minutes while various stuff smoked off the pipes.
Overall I love the SC Project 2-1, the looks, fit and finish are top notch, the sound is definitely different than the gurgle of a 2-2 pipe on a V7, it changed the whole character/attitude of my V7 closer to what I want my bike to be like. I see tons of V7's running around where I live and I've never seen another bike that has my exhaust, which is a point for the SC Project to me. The only downside for me is that I lost the ability to mount my chin fairing or a sump guard since the header runs right in front of the sump.
-
DVB, the prevailing thought on Harley forums that 2-1's are good is reality, for Harleys, especially when compared to the traditional non-crossover, prone to mid-range loss from reversion, setups like drag pipes.
But Harleys are famously choked by lack of pipe on purpose to get owners to spend on accessories and benefit greatly from opening up (10-20% on pipes and/or intake depending on the model and restriction point).
And even if they share a muffler one higher flowing muffler in a pipe that doesn't promote reversion is an improvement.
I understand you wondering about total volume, but I think it's a case that it's still more. And even though it's 2-1 I have to wonder if, even at high RPM, the cylinders are ever fighting for volume or each using it somewhat independently (think of the cadence at idle back and forth between cylinders).
Regardless, smallblocks don't generally benefit from such thing as they are largely more efficient from the factory.

All sounds positive, but I have a spring puller (works handily on the Agostinis) so, I afraid, it might still be only a 1 beer job (I might be able to push it out to 2, if I try).
You have a 1TB bike that normally uses 2 lambda sensors - did your headers have the threaders for the 2? I spoke with SC-Project Oceania & they seemed to think that they could fit only 1 lambda. (But aa it is is built in Italy to order, it may not be the case). The whole system for the price of mufflers alone is attractive.
-
Malik- I totally forgot about the sensors, they do have the sensor holes but the right header hole is in a super inconvenient spot over on the front-right side of the bike, what I ended up doing was cutting the sensor wire free from the main wiring loom tape and running it thru the space in the middle of the bike to reach the sensor hole, but the way the sensor screwed in was not designed well and the wire ended up rubbing against the oil sump and heats up laying on the crank housing. My ecu flash turns the o2 sensors off so I ended up blocking the holes off and totally disconnecting the lamda sensors.
So the exhaust does have the threaded holes on both headers but I STRONGLY recommend not trying to use them.

Nothing too drastic:
- OEM cafe seat
- "Mito Guzzi V7 and Griso Parts" black tank strap
- Beetle map
- Oil catch can
- Gearbox breather "mod"
- Removed plastic covers on top of the forks (why the heck would anybody want to hide those two beautiful alu bolts???)
- Agostini crash bar
- Hella strong tone (dual-tone) horns (not yet mounted in picture above)
- Griso rim decals
- Proper NGK spark plug caps (plugs also changed)
- Dart piranha flyscreen... later sold.
- Agostini handlebar crossbar
- Some nicer alu tyre valve caps
- CTEK battery maintainer/charger connector
- Zip-tied various cables, checked tightening torques and replaced main clamp on throttle body because folks on the assembly line are incapable to do their work
- ABUS Detecto 8077 disc lock fits perfectly under the seat
- Bell Bullitt helmet and Helite airbag leather jacket for the rider
I think this is it. I'm still with Olle shocks and stock mirrors. Will also change those when the day comes...
-
And it looks great. :thumb: Is the cafe seat any more comfy than the stock? I like the look of the 1.5 seat too but haven't seen any good side on photos of it.
I use Abus locks for my bicycle and think they're excellent. I should invest in a disk lock but at the moment I'm using the back in 5 D lock that i use for bicycle touring. Not an ideal solution but handy as it fits under the seat. Abus and Kryptonite probably make better options and will be heavier.

Where did you mount the Skene lights, particularly the front lights?
It looks like you changed the front turn indicators also?

The cafe seat is a bit better then stock, and I like it, but I'm thinking that eventually I might try something aftermarket (Corbin or maybe one of those 1.5 seats).

Not many changes on mine and all were done to improve appearance and sound: Mistral exhaust and new cross over pipe; cafe racer seat; Pirelli Speed Demons; bar end mirrors; windscreen; and helmet lock.

Almost forgot the bags, but that isn't really a change, I just tossed a pair of traditional saddle bags under the seat.

Thanks Kev M. I like the little emblem on the 1.5 too.
Gotta love those micro panniers and that ingenious helmet lock.

I mounted the lights onto the holes that the stock turn signals used after I relocated the turn signals onto a bracket that bolted onto the bottom part of the triple tree

It's a bit wider and IMHO a bit stiff. Or is this suspension? Anyway, it's ok.

Added a few things to make the V7 III more tour worthy, H-B 30L panniers, Dart Merlin screen, heated grips, emulators for the front suspension + fork gators, and the beautiful baratone voice from a pair of Mistral short slip ons to accompany me on a two week ride. We then set out on a 2850 mile inaugural ride. I regret not upgrading the rear shocks and the pos OEM fuel filter before leaving the shop. Had I done so I would likely not suffered from back pain and not been stranded at roadside when the OEM filter failed. Oh well, lesson learned. :undecided:

Apologies if this is covered in a different post you already made:
Dart windscreen: Happy with it for a longer trip like that?
Front suspension: was that a "personal preference" thing for you or do you think the front suspension is really subpar? I know the back shocks leave a bit to be desired for many.

Pending roadscum's answer, my 2 cents:
Dart Marlin was a very good $144 investment. Removes chest pressure at speed and diverted most bugs off the jacket.
Front suspension was fine for me, but the rear was harsh for a 180 pound rider.

Lol, "Genuine Ebay" parts held on with 2 zipties, search for something like 7 inch headlight cover and get the cheapest one you can find.

The Dart Merlin exceeded my expectations. At highway speeds, 75-80 mph, it protected my torso from the wind & weather but had my head in clean air, exactly what I was hoping for. Here in hot humid Florida I want my helmet vents to be in the wind. I was very pleased with the V7 III , as I had equipped it, for long distance touring. It the little bike that performs above it class. I was delighted at how comfy the seat on my Special is when sp nding long days in the saddle.
From what I read on various forums the front suspension was not as bad as the rear but would benefit from upgrades. I had the dealership make those upgrades before I took delivery. Some marching was required and I rather have the dealer perform that task. Sorry, but I had no wxperience with the OEM front suspension components and can't offer a personal evaluation.
The rear shocks were unable to handle my 190 lbs and luggage in high speed turns and it would at time begin to "hunt". Each small pothole and RR crossing would send a jolt up my spine...... ouch! Seems the repositioned shock mounts of the III mean shocks designed for earlier models are to longer. I'm now searching for 3 way adjustable shocks, w/o a remote reservoir, for an affordable price.

Stuff done to my v7r 2012 the day after purchase:
--gearbox oil change (as I suspected it had less than a quarter of what it was supposed to have)
--adjusted clutch lever play (also critical and commonly not done properly)
--removed the seat cowl and fly screen (the '7s')
--replaced seat with a 1 and a half cafe oem
--installed a drop bracket to lower the front consol
--removed rear mudguard and installed a tail tidy with led brakelight and indicators
--installed crg lane splitter side mirrors
--swapped front indicators with mini led ones
--Installed a beetle map
-installed agostini shorties
--got my kids to paint some red stripes on my helmet
Bike came with engine guards and center stand. Both needed so they stay.

Ahh good ol' PS? Making mechanics out of customers it seems. I hope I'm wrong.
Pictures please RTR. It sounds like a nice looking bike. Would love to see that 1.5 seat from the side as well. Been thinking of getting one. In fact been thinking of a few things but seem to remain content with stock atm. I'd jump on some racer clip ons but in Australia they're well over $400!

The Stone wheels look good. I have a special with the black spoked rims but I do like the cast rims.
Billy that looks great. Thanks for the pic. I really like the 1.5 seat. And the silver rocker covers look good too. Adds to the retro look I think.

Where is the top shot from ?
-
The day I brought my brand new 2012 V7R home I stripped off the seat cowl, thumbnail fairing, faux leather straps, evap canister. Within a week the stock exhaust went, then I sourced Breva 750 wheels to do a tubeless conversion. Then a gauge/headlight lowering bracket, fender eliminator and ECU re-flash.
Keep the bike for 6 years. he last 3 of those 6 years I tried to sell the V7 and finally sold in 2018 it for a 5 figure loss. Good times right there :thumb:
As for why I did what I did...why not??? Lifes to short and boing to not have a littl fun.

How are those tires working for you? To get the correct sizes for the V7 it a MT-60-RS 110/80R18 on the front and a MT-60 130/70-17 on the rear.
That's a radial on the front and a bias ply on the rear! I have read reports of people getting away with that but the info I have found from tire manufacturers and distributors say bias front and radial rear only, or don't mix then unless the moto manufacturer says it is OK.
-
Bought it dropped, so had to replace a few components. Front to back.
Headlight/speedo lowering bracket- 3d printed trim with added voltmeter (cosmetic)
Rizoma LED turnsignals (originals too conspicuous)
Bitubo fork adjustable drop in springs and caps (night and day over stock setup)
Agostini sport handle bars (originals were bent, the agostini feel short and sporty)
Machined lever controls
Barend mirrors
Mosfet voltage regulator (original failed at 1000km, then 1 more) no issues since
Wrapped headers (so I wouldn't burn myself anymore)
ZARD pipes (with db killers, running without) best value on the market at the time
Elk hide wrapped factory seat (original was scuffed)
Rear fender delete and LED brake light (cosmetic)
Bitubo adjustable twin shocks
Relay box for usb charging and voltmeter relay

Nah...just ran a Conti radial up front, and a Michelin bias rear all last season. With tubes too. Handled great. And that is pushing it with the forks raised 10mm too.

I have not experienced any handling issues at least not up to 70 or so. I don't push too hard on twisty roads but again it does not feel Twitchy or unstable.

I worried about the front radial / rear bias mix myself until Moto Guzzi came out with the rough version which uses the very same tires. I figure if Guzzi is selling them off the floor with that combo I'll be fine. With several hundred miles on various roads and speeds I have not experienced any problems with the tires. Not sure I would use them for track days but that's not how I use my bike. Moderate speed riding I'm back roads is great and these tires are wonderful on dirt and gravel roads.

Sounds good. Moto Guzzi has "approved" that combo. But it doesn't mean that any radial front/bias rear is OK.

Who in Las Vegas bought my V7II from Las Vegas Yamaha?
-
It’s a 16 V7II bought as a leftover when Guzzi had “deals”going . Out the door $7k
Since then .
Hepco Becker , 30 liter cases w/racks &tail rack & ctr Stand & crash bars (dealer discounted 15% all H-B)
Race-tech Ft. springs & fresh fork oil . Icon rear shocks
HH brake pads & bleed fluids (huge improvement)
Fat Ducks & de-cat-ed mufflers.Im sure not as good as the legendary Beetle map ,but a significant improvement over stock.
Conti Radials ,possibly best single improvement
Mirror extenders,Guzzi windshield, brighter headlight bulb w/relays to batt.
Sump extender. Re-paint ( OEM paint was poor)
Guzzi gel seat & tank pads (won @ Rally ! )
Shure seems like a lot , I’m hoping to ride & enjoy . It’s pretty well broken in @ 14k Mi.
No oil consumption & motor has smoothed out nicely

Hi there..
Not much in here... 2018 V7iii Stone:
-Dart Piranha Fly Screen
-Mistral Short Slip-Ons (and compared with the originals... well.. they're a blast of a soundtrack in any ride....)
-Guzzi OEM tank pads
I just keep it simple
-
2017 V7III Special
Made the wheels tubeless
Larger rear tire to correct the speedo
Extra loud horns to make myself heard
Driving spot lights to make me more visible
Added a pistol box to carry all my crap
Girbing Bluetooth heated gear controller
LED Headlight to save Amps for heated gear
Battery Voltmeter
Dart Marlin screen
And most important of all a cup holder and card holder so I can use the drive thru.

2013 Stone:
* GuzziPower (Ed Millich) Sump Spacer (for more oil capacity)
* Over-racing frame sliders
* HB racks for side and topcase (powdercoated black before HB offered them that way)
* Dart Marlin
* OEM Cafe take-off seat
* YSS Shocks
* Centerstand and Euro sidestand
* Black aluminum injector covers
* OEM mirrors (Guzzi 1200 sport/Aprilia/other brands)
I wouldn't mind figuring out a more robust headlight bucket, it's a little rattly/tinny.
I also would like black handlebars, but the positioning is right so I feel stupid changing them.
No need to change exhaust, and though the forks are rather basic they do they job.
I could see springing for a Corbin, but I've got two other bikes that are better for distance, do I dunno.
I should probably upgrade the tail light someday, but I'm not in a rush obviously (going on 5 years).
Still love it.
UPDATE -
* Used silicone to seal the headlight assembly to the bucket, now it's less rattly
* Changed the Dart Marlin to a Emgo Viper cafe fairing
* Changed Cafe seat to a Corbin Cafe seat
* Added Knight Desgin 2" drop pegs
* Added KOF control peg drops
NOTE: I've had an LED replacement taillight bulb in a package on the workbench for something like 2-3 years.

2016 V-7ii Stornello bought last month with 400 miles..
quality oils/service
Dropped the fork oil, mixed my own batch
Ikon rear shocks
Conti road attack 3 tires,
Built all my racks for C-bow, and many luggage options there.
Givi tank bag, and custom quick-look ring
Dart Classic screen,
Side stand fixed in my press
Removed all the aluminum side cover plates/headlight #plate
Removed all safety stickers/reflectors
Metal fuel filter. because I don't care for the real swelled up factory one..
Cheap bar-end mirrors that I made to fit using my milling machine. Good view/super clear now..No longer a member of the Mickey Mouse Club..
Gold Wing clone ft pegs
Filled the front master cylinder to the correct level, so it no longer pukes fluid.. Funny how that works..
Heated grips on the way, and a e-bay racer tank with pads from AF1 I am going to store away the factory white tank for now.. These will be tough to find down the road, Although I could paint another one the same..(just not into painting things at this point)
It runs perfect, and needs zero mapping. although hooking up Guzzidiag is quick, and painless) Getting around 60 mpg up here in the High Dessert Country in Oregon. Mid-grade gas works better then the higher spec no alky stuff . The sound of the Arrow high pipe is pleasing. Just right like the rest of the machine.(now)I have a bit over 1000 miles, and expect things are going to get better when things get worn in a bit.. Sweetheart now though..

As my last new bike it was disheartening to learn: 'what noise. they all do that'. The gear noise is terrible, even with good ear plugs, The bike feels much heavier than 410, 430'. And it is! ~485. I bought the wee bitch anyway. All my friends ride Guzzis. The bikes are fun w/only good folks to be with.
Oddly enough? I'm fanatical regarding a possible breakdown. I like bikes that handle well, stop well and look good. Get you there and back, on time, with clean hands and clothing. Thanks to Jim Hamlin. He made a raft full of changes to make me grin: Legnano bars, all steel fuel pump, NGK spark plug connectors, swopped wire wheels for cast AND no tubes, added K-Tec front end. Jim had the seat cover changed to dk brown w/red stitching, added a tail rack and delivered it to our rally site. SURPRISE!!! WOW! That's a dealer.
I rode it in rain for two days. So far so good,- 'til it wasn't. It's a'17 racer, Lower case 'cause I can't stand posers or matte finishes. I chose the changes over a few years hoping for more power, better handling and stoppage. I had the cast wheels powder coated. Added frt. fender extender from UK. and molded it in. Stripped the bike of all the "tin ware", added a Marlin instrument shield of fibre glass, so it could hold paint.
The bike is a very dark brown with gold dust. Front fender has a 25mm wide red line almost end to end. Side panels have a red checker board like some sport models and white stripe. The racer emblems were added. I think it's a good looking bike. ~7700 miles. "Weigh" too heavy for me.
For Sale. Pictures available. R3~

For the Stornello TT: Goodness where do I start......
1. Suspension: 420 MM Hagon Rear Enduro/Trail Shocks 7.5 LB KTECH fork springs. Better ride quality, increase in ride height (1.5" unladen, 3/4" seated) for off road riding.
2. Electrical: AUX LED driving lights, tail light, and USB Power port to the GPS Power lead, swapped out head and tail lights for LED. LED's to save power, and USB/GPS power.
3. Electrical Accessories: MGMP Module for Smart Phone App, Oxford Heated grips,TPMS. Data from the MGMP is useful but not necessary, heated grips ARE ;-)
4. Tuning/Engine: Beetle Map, replaced Plug ends, valves set at .10 & .15mm, Mistral Exhaust. Beetle Map is a must, the plug ends are a recommended prevention, tighter valve clearances work with the BM, and the Mistral Exhaust sounds even better than the Arrow, but is almost 2" closer to the frame allowing the custom HB rack.
5. Chassis: Modified Norge Windscreen adapted to Dart brackets, Stelvio Hand Guards, 1.5" mirror extension brackets, raised front fender by mounting on topside of fork brace/fender mount, Hepco Becker Triple bags with custom exhaust side bracket. Love the variety of bags available to the HB rack.

(https://i.ibb.co/YPZMbjd/IMG-20210427-080947058-1.jpg) (https://ibb.co/YPZMbjd)
Hepco becker Center Stand and Engine Case Guards, 1" SW Motech Bar Risers, Goldwing Pegs, custom seat by KOF. All these modifications were for function, better weather protection, carry capability of luggage, better fit for my body, and
6. Tires/Brakes: Shinko 705 in stock sizes, Front HH sintered brake pads. The HH pads have better bite and response for the single disk. Not impressed with the 705's. Had good press, but street performance lacks.
7. Cosmetic: Custom Painted Yellow Tank (added, did not paint the stock tank) and painted side covers with Medallions.
I may have missed a few things, but my goal was to create a V85 TT alternative. So far, I am very pleased with the outcome. The Stornello TT is an all road touring machine. I have over 7K on the build. Adequate on the highway, comfortable for 8+ hours a day, 45mpg, a total blast to ride, and if/when the pavement ends, the fun does not stop.

Addenda:I forgot to add the best of all.
As new the abs did not. A hard stop was, potentially suicidal. I bled the brakes many times, often overnight under pressure. I could ride it 5 -7 miles and the lever would pull to the hand grip. Several computer controlled bleedings (a la factory), were no better. Jim Hamlin offered a frt. brake system designed in house w/one of his Tech's. It's a 4 pot, radial Brembo caliper + radial master cylinder w/ a swing lever and remote reservoir. It's almost an exact copy of the system on my RS125 Racer. (that bike weighs less than 300#). I believe the yclept MG Euro racers have a very similar arrangement. What a difference! I could float the rear wheel. AND, within a week or so the abs began working. It's wonderful. Ill never have less.
I wonder how much the abs system weighs? R3~

I took a few pics in natural light outside.. Running the standard Royster bag setup. It works well for grabbing some things at the Market.
I did get about 5.5 gals into it. any more, and it will start puking gas out the top hose on the tank. No clamp on it...

Hi all. I guess I’ll chime in.
After selling my beloved 2013 V7 due to an injury, and after resolving it with hip replacement surgery, I simply couldn’t do without another V7. So I upgraded. Here’s my 2020 V7III Stone S with the following updates…
- Bitubo fork cartridge kit/rear shocks (setup by Dave Moss Tuning)
- Agostini Sport drop bars/rear passenger pegs/Super Short exhaust slip-ons
- Sprint dry air filter
- GTM SAS delete/ECU flash tune
- EVAP canister delete
- Factory Guzzi V9 rear-sets w/Rizoma pegs (modified to fit V7III)
- BAAK short aluminum front fender
- K-town rear LED/fender delete
- Gecko front LED micro blinkers
- CRG Hindsight bar-end mirror
- Rizoma bar end
- ProGrip 780 grips
- ProGrip 480 lever covers
- Factory seat from V7III Carbon Shine
- Aluminum “Moto Guzzi” tank badge
- ShiftTech carbon license plate frame
I may be missing something, but I believe she’s fully updated with the all the mods I planned originally. I also realized that I dislike the OEM Dunlops, so

1. after-market mufflers, so it sounds like a Guzzi
2. fabricated a rack with a back pad, for the wife.
3. mounted pelican cases, for the convivence.
4. cut both levers down to two finger units, cause that's what I like.
5. jammed a marble into the SAS air supply line, for no snap crackle and pop on deceleration.
6. mounted a new clutch cable.
7. replacing rear tire (again) average 4K on rear...

How about a pic of the sas mod?

So, there is now nothing on the bike that distinguishes it as a Stone S. Even the engine cooling fins look black in the photo instead of polished. What are you going to do with all the take off parts?

Kev, the 2" drop pegs on your 2013 V7. Do you notice a big difference in comfort? I am considering adding them to my 2014 V7. If you don't mind me asking, what is your inseam measurement? I'm about a 33"

I've got a 32" inseam and I'm in my 50's but I've not been kind to my knees between Karate, Skiing, Snowboarding etc.
I have always cramped up with some ease on longer days. I mean, it might be hours 100 or 200 miles before they start aching and popping when I straighten them, but they do it on bikes like I currently own. And once my knees start that it happens quicker and quicker on any given day.
The pegs definitely helped. It will never make my V7 as comfy as my last RK with the Police seat, but it's definitely better. And last summer I had no problem touring on it, though I still probably didn't exceed a 300-400 mile day. But that does all I need it too.
The V7III came with a longer reach to the pegs in the first place (and pegs that were closer to the ground) so I went a different direction on that for even more comfort.

2022 Stone, just some bolt-ons:
MG center stand (must have)
MG engine guard (eh...)
HB C-bow "street soft" bags (got to have something to carry stuff in)
HB rear rack (gives me something to grab when getting it on the center stand and to carry/strap on a pack ot roll if I need to)
That's it for now. Maybe.

Some mods carried out to my V7 MkII Stornello since buying in 2019 with 3000 Kms on clock.
Beetle map.
YSS PD emulator valves for forks installed and damper rods drilled out .
12 mm pre load set on fork springs . Triple clampes lowered 12 mm on tubes .
Hagon rear shocks installed with dampening adjustment .
Rotated rear arrow 2:1 muffler so closer in by 20 mm requiring some bending modification to rear mount bracket.
Converted spoked rims to tubeless using Sikaflex 291 marine sealant and 90 degree valve stems .
Spaced out right hand foot peg and brake assy 8 mm to give a bit more foot clearance from Arrow 2:1 exhaust.
Installed Honda Gold wing foot pegs these are wider ,slightly lower and rubber big improvement over ally originals.
Installed cylinder head temp gauge / voltmeter just out of interest.
Installed water trap with drain in breather return line back to sump. Get a lot of water from this especially in winter doing 20 km commute one way but even in summer amazing how much water is produced .
Installed usb / phone charger receptacle on handle bars .
Installed two led driving lights just below headlight mainly for visibility .

OK, so I made a few minor farkles. Here's bone stock:

and now:

added crash bars. A Guzzi's just not fully dressed without them
(https://i.imgur.com/XvW7v6c.jpg)
Garmin Zumo added and wired to the underseat connector so it's on switched power
(https://i.imgur.com/AcesF3l.jpg)
Added black fly screen just for looks. Added black Pazzo clutch and brake levers. One, the unfinished originals just looked a little out of place and two, I tend to use my whole hand on the big levers and so the smaller levers make it easier for me to use just one or two fingers to control.
Also removed all the tank stickers because damn.

No, a cat-con would be too hot...
It's on my intact EVAP system canister that still traps hydrocarbons for burning during normal engine operation.

I listed all I did to the Mello Yello Stornello above, but a recent change is I'm PULLING the 420mm Hagons off the rear and replacing them with
390mm BiTubo shocks with the external reservoir, and raising the forks in the TT.
I'm sick and tired of the extreme lean on the SS, and having the rear tire sit on the ground when on CS. I had it warming up on the CS today, and for the second time accidentally bumped the shifter popping it in gear. Today it launched across the garage. No damage, but its time for a change. The extra height is immaterial, I don't do more than gravel or dirt roads. Will probably change my fork oil too.

For S&Gs, I’d consider inspecting your driveshaft u-joint when you have a chance. Ever since I installed the longer shocks on mine, the reliability and condition of the small block driveshaft has been on my mind.
-
I have a '23 V7 Stone Special Edition, so I guess this model still qualifies.
- replaced the large US-spec tail light with the Euro-spec tail light: looks much better
- put red pinstripes on the black wheels: looks
- replaced the OEM Arrow mufflers with full-length reverse cone Agostini mufflers, dB killers removed: sound
- added the UPMAP tune, open airbox lid kit, to go with the Ago mufflers: performance
- replaced the stock single horn with dual Hella disc horns: safety
- replaced the OEM seat with a solo seat with custom upholstery: comfort and looks
- added a sump guard and crash bars: protection
- added a dark tinted windscreen: looks

I R&R'd the Swing Arm and Bevel Box and inspected the DS 2 years ago at 7-8K miles. All was perfect. The bike has mostly sat at my house in Virginia as I was mostly overseas the last 2 years, and when CONUS was based out of KY.
Though the longer shocks and fork springs raised the static height by 1.5", it only ended up .75" when seated. These Enduro shocks were EXCELLENT, and were dual spring giving a very soft ride. Due to my firm commitment to keep both wheels on the ground, and VERY limited off or rough roads, the angles weren't too bad.

Just the usual stuff.. I think the Beetle Map was the best one.. Long gone now, because I just want one bike at a time..
