Title: Demo'd new Bonnis today
Post by: kingoffleece on June 24, 2017, 09:30:46 PM
So the bride and I went to my buddies Triumph dealership for demo days and I rode the T120 and she rode the T100.
To say we were impressed is understating it A LOT.

Now, we've had 3 of the new Bonnies (a 790 and two 865's) and put almost 30000 miles on those three bikes.  We have a baseline.
These new bikes are as good as advertised.

The Bonnies are nice bikes.  I owned a 790cc Centennial Edition in a lovely Lucifer Orange and Silver for almost 50,000 miles.  Zero problems, and a very nice ride.

I've ridden my buddy's 2016 T-120 ...... performance wise, it's got some real punch compared to the previous series bikes.  Plus better suspension.  Nice fit and finish, too.

I can appreciate that they have done them well. I just have no feeling of excitement or interest about them.

Chaque a son gout, as always.

The Triumphs are the best-quality, most dependable European brand on the market right now.

I liked the Thruxton R until I got to see one in the flesh. Maybe if I rode one.

Would agree with that 100%. :thumb:  I had a new 2001 Bonnie back in the day.  Great little bike!

I would own the T100 Bonneville Black...and of course, any of the new Thruxtons!

I saw a T120 Black in a parking lot last week with aluminum Givi bags and flyscreen.  I usually don't care for the new Bonnie's but this one was appealing.

As a current older model Scrambler owner (I've owned three) I can attest the bikes are overbuilt and dependable.  Other than batteries going out like a bolt of lightning 2-3 years after new, I have nothing bad to say.  The Scram 865 is an overweight  / underpowered little two wheeled tank.

The new models are no doubt another level of fit, finish, and refinement.  But too many techno-goodies for my taste and I refuse to step over the line of water cooling.  I will not own a water cooled bike, ever.

There's a place in the world for water-cooled bikes. Just now, with Las Vegas at 114 degrees, this is one of them. I'm thankful the Norge uses 10w60, since most other lower weight oils suffer a great deal in our summer temps.

A concept of "touring" which would fit quite nicely into the "old guy" thread elsewhere.  :thumb:
