Title: Intro and Burt Munro 50th
Post by: srj206 on June 28, 2017, 03:56:18 PM
Hi-
I bought a new 2016 VII Stone last year in Seattle - decision based a lot on the opinions from this forum.  Thanks!  Great bike!  I  rode up into Canada and then down to Las Vegas, stored it for a couple months, went back up to Seattle to work then back to Vegas and rode it down to San Diego and put it in storage again and went back to work..  I ended up making a trip into Baja, but went when there was a fuel price protest and had to do some creative navigating - a little off road sidewalks, drainage ditches but really glad I had that bike.  Light enough to get through some tough spots - and was fine with the stock Pirelli Sport Demons.  Rode back up the coast to Seattle now thinking about my next trip.

Planning a similar trip this year and want to start by going to Bonneville Salt Flats for the 50th anniversary of Burt Munro's record.  I plan on storing the guzzi in Salt Lake City and continuing south in October.  Just wondering if anyone is interested in going - I will be riding out on August 10th and maybe camping - no real plans other than being at the Salt flats on August 13..

I'm booked into Wendover on Monday 28 August, hopefully to hear some good news about an fellow kiwi's attempt on a speed record riding a blown Guzzi 500.

Unfortunately, I'll be traveling in a cage, wife won't ride on the back of my bike any more.

If you can why don't you join about 70 other Guzzisti @ MGNOC Guzzi Rally @ Datil, New Mexico Aug. 17-20 on Hwy 60 west of Socorro at about 8K feet?  Socorro gets hot/windy but not where we meet up above there.  :thumb:

161.336 MPH not too shabby and a lot faster than most of the cars.
