Title: Old Blue
Post by: twowings on June 29, 2017, 09:12:23 AM
One of my favorite bikes of all time, from a golden era in motorcycle racing...those were happy times for a 24-year-old in love with Italian bikes!

Golden era is right.   Back when "CYCLE" had some real writers and real racers, I followed Cook/Phil's exploits on the track every month in great detail, still have those old magazines in a file out in the shop.

I'll get 'em back out and recreate my youth ....

I do it all the time.

1) Take a ride on the roads that I grew up on, and smell the honeysuckle on a summer evening, and feel the hot humid summer air get cool as I ride down into a draw and back up.

2) Get on a bike of the kind I owned when I was 17; smell the Yamalube and feel the engine ring-a-ding.

3) Take my girl on the back of my bike to get an ice cream to the same Dairy Queen we went to in 1970.

They don't have "Share the Land" or "Gimme Dat Ding" on the jukebox any more, but I can get a whole lot of my youth back anyhow!!
