"Jagwillie" is one of ours right here on WG.
You can ask him! :thumb: He's probably not trying to sell to all us old cheapskates, though ....
-
VERY PRETTY!!!
But guys correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like it has a very awkward seating position. Ergonomically incorrect? Leaned forward, ass back, knees up with feet somewhat forward. IMHO looks like it's in need of rear sets.
Cheers, Tim

The ad mentions that it has a lowered-peg kit on it. I'm sure they'd go right back to the stock position if you're made that way ... !

Well then, my apologies if I offended a member here. I am not in the market for a Guzzi but I will say, in my opinion, that is the prettiest Guzzi ever made and probably in the top 5 or so of best looking bikes of all time.
-
I'm sure that this bike will fetch a decent amount of money, but it is interesting what a paint job, some decals and a clear coat can do for the price of a bike.

We've all said that before, and only a lucky few own them.

That is one beautiful, limited edition, and relatively rare Guzzi...but is $13K the true CMV ("Current Market Value") for this model?
(I really need to win the LOTTERY...where money would not be an issue when looking at cool motorcycles!!)

Nah, the Coppa Italia was not uncomfortable. While I owned one I took some good 1k+ mile trips and found it more comfortable that my Ducati GT1000. This was with the stock pegs.

wow 13K ?
Will it sell ?

My guess is no. :boozing:

Meh..It looks like they couldn't decide if they were building a naked or fared bike .. the nose give it an unbalanced look, I personally don't like the aesthetic.

Thanks for the compliments on my bike. I agree with some that thought it is beautiful and it was comfortable for me with the lower pegs. It has a lot of nice equipment that enhances the performance and handling.
I find that I ride my Old Dorado more than the Coppa and the fact that I have eleven other bikes to maintain is what is prompting me to sell it and some of the others. I'm finally getting a little tired of changing batteries and tires and want to lighten my load as I get older and more arthritic. I know that this isn't happening to any of you----. That's my story.

Yes, but as an example, the Cafe Sport is the same bike except for the paint and decals. And a Cafe Sport fitted exactly like the Copa with the same mileage would be lucky to get $5-6K.
Don't get me wrong, I hope the owner gets the maximum amount of money for the bike.

That particular gorgeous piece of machinery is worth buying just to park in front of the garage and stare at...GLWS wish I had the scratch myself... :thumb:

So...
This is basically a Ballabio with a fancy suspension and paint job?

You say that like it's a BAD thing!

That is one of the prettiest paint schemes to ever grace a Guzzi. It'd be my pick of the V11 sport series followed by a greenie with a red frame.
-
OK ........... For those that need to know. This Spiney is a blast to ride and truly hides its weight and oh that glorious exhaust system sound.
I'm glad I managed to find a factory correct one years ago.
They are truly an eye full with that paint and all the mechanical bits when you see them in person.
Good luck to the present owner on the sale.
Ciao

Very nice example. I'd hope to see it go over 8k. Regarding the aesthetics, I personally prefer the Nero or Rosa Corsa version of this bike. The larger fairing and clip-ons look much better than the Coppa's small fairing and handlebars. To me they are more consistent with the rear tail section they share.

Bill,
Good luck with the sale!

Is there a certain number made of these?

Is there a certain number made of these?
Guzzi probably doesn't even know. I'll hazard a guess at "not very many."
-
Nick.
Great photo. I do remember this ride. I always new you had high standards!!
Where else could you find two Coppa's side by side.
:bike-037: :gotpics:
-
Is there a certain number made of these?
I've heard 300 worldwide, but I don't have hard evidence to support that...
-
My understanding is that around 40 were imported into the US. But who knows?
On. V11lemans.com The registry shows about 25 listed.
-

It was said at the time that 50 each of the Rosso Corsa, Nero Corsa, and Coppa Italia were imported, but I suspect the numbers could be a little lower.
-
Thanks for the well wishes. I don't know how many were made, not a whole lot. Over on the V11 Coppa registry, I think there are only 20-25 that have listed their bikes.
Nick, that's a nice pic with two of them side by side. I usually take mine to the IMOC show in Sturbridge, MA in the fall and I occaisionally see one there, so I know there are two or three in New England.

The "buy it now" doesn't mean much. It's the reserve that counts. The $13,000 BIN is "pie in the sky, rich guy has to have it now" pricing.
If our friend has the reserve set somewhere in the $6000 to $7000 range, then it will sell to the highest bidder.
I predict the bidding could go as high as $8,000. That's about the highest I've seen one of these sell for in the last five years.

Last year, one sold for $11K on eBay.

So, help me out. What makes some Moto Guzzis more valuable than others? Case in point:
2004 Coppa Italia - estimated value $8k - $13K
2003 Scura - available for $3500. It is also a limited edition bike. Same engine and frame?
https://amarillo.craigslist.org/mcy/6135438796.html
Granted, the Coppa has a nice tri-color paint job, and is probably cleaner, but $5k more?
What makes the difference?

Looks like the parking lot of the airport you NJ guys have breakfast at.
I see Cam's V7 Sport and Kev's Sporty.

That particular Scura needs work. An average Scura is probably more like 5-6K. The Coppa *does* seem to be one of the "collectable" Guzzis, though. That perception might drive the price a little higher. <shrug>
Yes, essentially the same bike. I personally prefer the fly screen of the Scura. To me, the Coppa's seems a little..uh..tacked on. Of course YMMV.

But it ain't no dog salmon.... I'd have one in my shop; even just to look at.

Easy.
1) Scura came in primer black.
2) Scura came with exploding single plate clutch that really should be replaced with a twin plate.
3) While Scura has Ohlins, the factory specs were a mess and they require a lot more setup than the later Ohlins equipped machines.
IF you can find a Scura that's had its clutch replaced, its suspension set up, and maybe has the race exhaust and ECU, you'll see it go for for $5500 - $6000.
If not, then you have to factor those costs into the bike, which pushes the sale price down.
By 2004, when the Coppa Italia and Nero Corsa were on sale, the clutch and suspension settings issues had been fixed by the factory.
-

I seem to recall that outlier. My prediction still stands.
((yes, I've been wrong a time or two))
-
The Cafe Sport is a better comparison than the Scura. Same bike except for the paint.
-
Yes Bill , hope you get you price. I replaced my Fly Screen. (have all original parts packed away safely.)
......And added a Lemans Fairing. It does transform the bike. Great color , but I am bias.

Yep. Buy It Now means I'll stop the auction and you can have it now
-
Joe,
Your bike looks good with that Lemans fairing. I believe someone else has one with the fairing painted to match the tank. More attractive than the Coppa. I had a red 2003 Lemans before the Coppa.

Thanks to all my well wishers, The Coppa did sell for the buy it price. Good bikes kind of sell themselves.

Congrats, it's great to see 'good bikes' sell for good money.

Wow...so it did sell for $13K? That's good news indeed...maybe the Scuras will appreciate as well by proxy!
:)

You guys with the Scuras are going to have have to disguise them as Coppas

Hey...I wasn't looking to start a skirmish here! :) ...but the Scura is damn fine looking! :)
-
Doesn't show a BIN on eBay, says listing removed? So it did sell?
-
Wow! Congrats! $13K would be the highest I've ever seen one of the Ohlins-equipped '03-'04 V11's sell for. Obviously, I haven't seen all of the past sales, but quite a few. That's up there!
