Title: Pacquiao vs Horn
Post by: LowRyter on July 02, 2017, 09:14:22 PM
I just saw the replay of the fight.  I don't think robbery is too strong a term.  I'll give credit to Horn for going the distance but not the win.  It was a unanimous decision.  I'd say Manny should've won by 5 or 6 pts.

Home ring advantage for the new champ.

Anyone else see it?  It was a tough fight.  Not a particularly clean one either.

And as we go on with the conversation, yes fighting is a brutal game.  Perhaps those of us that watch it, even occasionally, are supporting something wrong.  I won't deny it.  I can't watch the MMA stuff but I still see great boxe matches.

I just watched it all the way through (with the frantic and inaccurate ringside commentary muted out) and I had no problem with the decision - matter of fact, I thought it would be closer, maybe split, but still thought Horn won it.

And that's even when you consider that the challenger has a higher hurdle to climb on points in a fight that doesn't end in a KO.

Horn got punished, but he was still bouncing on his toes after 12, not just dragging around surviving.  Manny about wore himself out in the 9th throwing punches like a machine gun.   Horn got hit, but he was doing some good boxing; got a lot of good punches in, but Manny's tough too and didn't maybe show the effects of them.

Lot of people didn't like the decision, that's for sure, but I thought it was fair ....

I had the sound off too.  And my son and I thought it was a bad decision.  Horn was bloodied, beaten and knocked down.  It looked like Manny was cut with a butt on the head and slide of the glove.  Horn's gloves were taped several times during the time outs.  The punch stat showed Manny landed more and harder shots

No question that Horn was able to go the distance, got a second wind and ended strong but IMO still not winning the late rounds.

I enjoy watching people beat the tar out of each other. But it is hard to get into a sport where there is no clear winner and a panel of "experts" decides on who won. I was hoping boxing would become interesting after Mayweather retired. He was boring to watch.

I'm no expert, couldn't call it either way.  They should keep going until one gives up or gets knocked out.  :boxing:

Just possible that the referees panel is the best judge of who won.

What was the composition of  it?

Hey !!!!!!  - an Argentine and two Americans.

That's it  -they must have been right.

just sayin
