50-mile round trip "shake-down" ride to historic Cottonwood, AZ and back this morning to meet my Triumph buddy Dwight (who wussed out and drove his pick-up...), for a little Friday lunchie-poo.
Despite triple-digit+ temperatures, the ol' Centauro GT ran GREAT, and on one stretch, I even "exceeded-the-ton" (Well...that felt good for a change!) It ran like the "Banshee-Beast" that it is!! :1: :thumb:
Averaged about 33 MPG...and I was FLOGGIN' it good. A few photos. It's still too hot to ride in those temperatures, however....   I almost passed out!! ("WHEW!!)
Have a great (and safe) weekend everyone! :1: :thumb:

Yeah, but its a dry heat! HaHaHa.... I am at 4200-5200 ft altitude a few miles south of you in the Douglas /Bisbee area. Night time is the "right time to ride" for me.
The "Yellow horse" looks fantastic! :thumb:

Now I feel bad for wussing out 'cause it's 98 degrees here...of course the humidity is somewhat higher than AZ..
She's looking fine in the heat! :thumb:

Yep ... ridin' 100 miles in that triple digit "dry heat" in mesh, you probably lost 2 quarts of water. Can't go long like that, I've tried it without meaning to and watched the world start to close in and dim out as I looked for something to hang on to ... !
Drink it, splash it on yourself, whatever .... Fay and I will be out riding about 4 hours in the 93 degF heat tomorrow, and we'll have a big bag of water with us, mon .....

Having lived, (and ridden), and hiked in "The Valley of the Sun" for >30 years, I know the "HYDRATE OFTEN" drill quite well.... :1:  :thumb: I never travel anywhere in AZ without water...car or bike or on foot.

Looks nice. Those are beautiful bikes.
I was out playing today as well. Saw 115 on the Norge thermometer before heading to the much cooler 80 at the beach.
Oh yes, tomorrow is supposed to be hot here.

My Norge was showing 120 - and around here, you don't go to the beach to cool off. Lake Mead is the lowest part of the valley, and is therefore almost always the hottest!

I used to live in northern Manitoba - I remember mosquito repellent! The university there had a research project trying to create 200% DEET...

Got up to 109F here @ 3,500' today in Kingman, Az. That was in the shade whilst I was watching TV inside. It was probably 120F down by the Colorado river in Bullhead City 50 miles away. I've ridden here in 96F and it was comfortable as long as I was going 65 mph on my MP3 scooter. No sweat then. This time of year whether by scoot or car I always have a frozen bottle of water to keep me hydrated. The ice water lasts longer that way.
As long as I have some heat protection I can take it better than freezing cold. I've ridden in 123F for hours repeatedly w/a bag of water to sip on as needed out west. I'll take these extremes over a combo of heat/humidity any time. BTDT.
God help those homo sapiens that live down in Phoenix, Tucson at sea level !
In Bullhead they're biggest electric bills are in the summer. At least up here it cools down to the 70s at night. :thumb:

I think we staggered up to 10degC today.
Roll on summer! :thumb:

Right now (5:36am) in DATIL, NEW MEXICO, the temperature is 59 degrees...high in the low 80's in the afternoon. :thumb:  Looking forward to riding across the Continental Divide next month at 7.796 feet
Back here in the Verde Valley, we need to MONSOONS to start here ASAP to cool things off 20 degrees!
-
JJ, hope to see you and the gorgeous yellow horse in Datil!
