Title: V7 II Stone re-torque pattern
Post by: Jim C on July 09, 2017, 07:02:24 PM
As stated in thread title...I've never done this before, so I need to
know the pattern (including the top bolt).

I really don't want to screw this up. Thanks...I know it's a criss-cross pattern,
but I don't understand how the top bolt is incorporated in the pattern, or if it's
just done by itself after the other four, or...

Any help appreciated.

Nothing to be afraid of. Crack 'em off half a turn, top one first then one of the outer sleeve nuts and then the others in a crosshatch pattern. Loosen the top one off a bit more for good measure then grab your torque wrench and tighten in reverse order. From memory 30`32 ft/lbs for the four big ones and 22 ft/lbs for the smaller top one which should be done last. Remember static friction is greater than sliding friction so you want to make sure you complete the tightening movement in one go so make sure you have adequate swing.

check valve clearances. stick the lids back on. Go ride.

Jim, I wrote a guide on torquing the pre-2013 bikes.  Maybe you can glean something from it.
