Good review!   Sounds like it might be worth a try, although fitting out myself and wife with a set each sounds like it will set us back the best part of 3 C-notes.

One note - For some years now I've been sporting "Ex Officio" boxer-briefs.   They are cool, supportive, and I haven't even worn out the pairs I bought in 2014 yet (I have a dozen pair).   They pack light for traveling, and can be washed at night and will be dry in the morning, hanging on a tent guy or a motel shower rod.   I'm trying to think what advantages these ones you're testing would have over those ....

Other question - Fay and I have been looking for a summer transcontinental touring solution for gear.   One problem is, when you've been riding in the heat all day, you've got to change your "smalls" that have been right against your skin (girls and guys both), every day.    If you're toting half a dozen pairs of u-trou, you don't have to do laundry all the time.   But if you've only got one or two pairs of undies that are $125 a set, you won't be carrying many of them.

For day trips or overnighters, sounds ideal.   But if you're going to be on the road for a month?

Be all that as it may, thanks for the review and info!!

LD Comfort is the cream of the crop, and has a hard-earned and well-deserved reputation among the IBA crowd.

For those looking for a lower-cost alternative, the Cycle Gear house-brand 'Heat-Out' base layer garments are very attractively priced. Will they last as long and be quite as comfortable as LD Comfort? In two words, no and no. However, they are good value for the price and allow you to carry multiple sets while still being able to afford your red suspenders.

I have some of both.

Has anyone else here used bicycling shorts? They do a decent job for me.

:1:  Makes a big difference. I use motels and don't camp anymore so soon after I check in I wash them in the sink with a bit of shampoo, rinse and put out to dry. Repeat.

My LD briefs work much better than the single layer synthetic underwear I use for running.

Another question - I like that idea of pouring water down your sleeves onto the LD Comfort top on a blistering hot day, under a non-mesh jacket.

That takes care of your top half ... how would you handle the same situation for the pants?

Hey, if it keeps me cool on a ride across Mississippi in 100 degree weather, people can talk and point all they want to, and I'll stride proudly ....

I share this perspective, especially in hot humid climates where the evaporative cooling effect ain't worth spit: http://www.webbikeworld.com/r3/motorcycle-underwear/ld-comfort/ld-comfort-shorts-shirt.htm
