Well, it's not JUST Guzzis...
I am flying down to Savannah for a couple of days midweek.
I read that Newark has free M/C parking. Anyone done this? I will probably make a scouting run before the trip to see the spot and chat with security before my trip. Any insights?

Have a safe trip and report back on the free moto parking situation.

Good to see this. Los Angeles (LAX) has free motorcycle parking right in the central part of the airport, so long as you don't take a car spot - you have to use one of the many odd-shaped areas throughout the structure.

Milwaukee also has a free area. Under cover and right outside baggage claim.
We also have an area right after TSA designated as the recombobulation area. Someone has a sense of humor.

We use Newark when we go to Puerto Rico, best prices to the island. We park off site and get taxi in. I wouldn't ride in that rat race for a free MC. Besides, my wife's make up bag would not fit on my bike, let alone our luggage.
That goes for Phila, Balt., and Washington.

Back in the 80's I use to park my Isuzu Trooper(side vent windows) at the long term parking lot at Newark and it was always open when I got back from a trip. Clearly it was rummaged through but nothing was thing taken, because I never kept anything of value in the vehicle. I found out later that the attendants were regularly rifling through cars as a side project, but I can't imagine that anyone would be interested in a Guzzi.

Haha - I was just in Milwaukee last week and saw that recombobulation sign. Had a good laugh.

Newark? It just makes it easier for the thief's-all the bikes are in one spot so they can pick what they want!

Thanks Paul, that is where I got the info. That organization set up text alerts to tell folks where the M/C only "Safety checks" were set up around the city. An anonymous internet denizen reported that he uses it often and that the spot for motos is covered, and next to the valet station. I will take pictures. DW

When I lived on the Upper East Side the locals parked under one of the ramps to the Queensboro bridge. it was fenced and locked and the bikes were mostly under covers. One night a truck pulled up, a couple of guys cut the lock on the gate and they took every bike of value only leaving a few Japanese cruisers and my lone Moto Guzzi. The group repaired the gate and we got a new lock.

I regularly park in the garage at P4. I always see the bikes lined up. That must be it. Short air train ride to the terminal from there. Seems to be a very safe area to park and leave the bike.

It was a joke, boys. But, I'm not surprised at all to hear about the Upper East Side theft.
When I lived in Manhattan I only felt my bike was safe when it was INSIDE my building.
