A guy I know is getting a heart pacemaker.. He is worried about getting near old cars and bikes, especially the ones with magnetos. The doctors have warned to to stay clear of RF emitting stuff like generators , magnetos also give off a large RF field... He also rides an old Brit bike with a magneto ignition .
Any of you here have a pacemaker? Or have knowledge of this problem? Thanks

Have my second pacemaker now.
First lasted 11 years, number 2 was put inside me in summer 2014. Used the old cabeling :boozing:
Only place I could not be, was beside the electric foundry ovens in the Vestas factory were I worked as an NDT inspector.
Could use electric welders and other electric tools. Yearly I have an control at the hospital, there they read and test the pacemaker, it has a memory that remember any foults, so far so good. :azn:

Tell him magnetos are no problem. Tell him not to stand next to a radio/TV tower. Also if he needs an MRI, but without a doubt the folks there will ask him if he has a pacemaker.

My dad had his pacemaker placed on the left side so he could continue to shoot skeet.

Years ago I can remember when we were refitting a ship that we were told we had to be careful of the RF emitted from the radar
We worked out that if we got close enough for the RF to be a problem, we'd be smacked on the head by the rotating antenna
It may well be the doctors being really cautious but you can understand why - I hope your friend doesn't feel he has no choice but to avoid all possible exposure to RF no matter how small the risk might be
