Hi all,
Greetings from the Netherlands, thanks for having me on board. I recently bought a V7 Classic 2009, glad to be able to join the community with you guys.
Now let me start with a question :) As I'm a real novice in electric stuff and I need some help on my V7 Classic. I'm trying to connect the charge cable to my bike's electric system. I read somewhere else in this forum that newer V7's have a GPS connector near the front lamp which gets power whenever the motor starts, which can be used to connect the TomTom cable to the bike. But I own a V7 classic built in 2009, I checked thoroughly today and I couldn't find this GPS connector, so where on earth can I tap into the power supply with this TomTom cable? I don't want to just connect to the battery directly, that way it taps power even when key is switched off. I haven't done any modification to the bike so far, and i noticed there is a unused plug underneath the seat, but I'm not sure what it is used for. Can any one help me out?

The tom tom is fused internally so you can run the cable direct to the battery. That's how I have it set up on my breva 1100

The Tomtom will have a 5 Volt Adapter, this will draw a small current even with the GPS unplugged so better to connect it to a switched source. I use the park-light.

Welcome mate from Australia. Where in the Netherlands ? I have a mate in Tilburg and in Appledorn, leaving today for Nordkapp, might say hi as I pass thru...

You have a row of fuses right there, pick one that goes off w/key.
Don't use the red plug, looks like the diagnostics plug.

That red plug with the yellow band is the diagnostics plug.
The Tomtom plug is up by the headlight. It is black and green. It is switched by the ignition key. On newer bikes it is usually on the left side; it may be elsewhere on your bike.

Thanks everyone for the info! Now I know I won't use that plug, and I still haven't found a dedicated GPS connector that is Green/Black, some suggest it may be hidden under the tank body attached to the frame. But Maybe the V7 Classic 2009 doesn't come with such a connector, only newer V7's have it. I'm not 100% sure yet, will look better for it this weekend. But if it doesn't exist on my bike I think I'll just tap from the head light connectors, as it is switched by the key. I just really hate to cut/splice into original wires... but oh well. Thank you all.

Correct - the V7 Classic does NOT come with the GPS connector, that was added with the later 1TB models. On my Classic I installed a fused wire set from the battery, up the frame under the tank to the headstock & to an SAE plug - to power phone chargers & heated grips, etc. RAM now make a wiring harness connecting the battery to a USB socket which attaches to their mounts. Neat system & compact, if not particularly cheap.

I recently installed a USB port on my V7II for a dash cam so I wanted it switched. I found a suitable fuse (the one on the left when standing on the left side of the bike) and pigy-backed using a dual tap ATP fuse. It puts a new fuse in parallel with the existing fuse.
