Title: Project Naked Norge
Post by: Travlr on August 04, 2017, 10:34:21 AM
I still miss my B11 (Breva 1100).  One of the best all around bikes I ever owned.  Instead of buying another I'm thinking of building a naked Norge.  My primary reasons would be to get ABS and the 8 valve motor.  IE: an 8 valve Breva.  I saved this pic of a 2 valve one Speakers built many years ago.  I always liked it and thought it might be a fun project.

I'm writing this as I start to explore the project.  I'd be interested to hear list members thoughts on problems I might encounter.  Issues I should be aware of.  For instance: How to handle protecting the instrument cluster?  What's the best year Norge to use?  Parts needed? Etc.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Mike

Travlr, Andy Hill ended up with that bike. He lives up in New York in the Finger Lakes region. Still has it and rides it.

IIRC, Jason got this bike damaged. Maybe in shipment, I'm not certain. I believe he just put the side pods on the tank for a Breva, and removed all the rest of the Norge body work. It has been a while, so I could be wrong, but I don't think it was a huge job. Sourcing the tank panels this far on could be the biggest issue.

Ha ha I was going to mention the Silver one from Speakers. And yes it was damaged in shipment so he converted it.

At least that's what I remember him telling me and maybe posting on the website.

I might also add that doing this with a 2V Norge would be easier since you don't have an oil cooler to deal with, but still do-able I would think.

The Breva 1100 has an oil cooler; I'd think that a 2V Norge does too.

Is the instrument pod on the Norge located in the dash?  Or free standing?
